I heard several Android devices with L1 DRM can't use the tablet HD Netflix app anymore, it forces them to update and is not working anymore, maybe only on a few devices or a certain version still works.
Device is not Google Certified, so some apps can't work and will also not get security or OS updates from Google themselves like Mi Box, Skyworth, Jetstream devices that get OS and security updates from Google.
No mention of Playready 3, if not present, Amazon Prime Video won't work.
Sideloaded apps probably still run upside down, airmouse buttons not working, pass-though problems, Kodi not playing hardware accelerated or frame switching, I can only guess, but the first test user will be able to confirm that.

It has arrived at my city airport, I live in Adelaide, Australia. I'm hoping it will be delivered tomorrow, if not tomorrow will be Monday or Tuesday latest, we don't get deliverys weekends here.
I will test these things as soon as I get it.
1. Root access
2. Highest quality of youtube and Netflix it plays
3. Playing 4k HDR 60 FPS through Kodi and mx player and stock video player
4. Running AnTuTu benchmark
If there is anything else that you want tested let me know. I only brought the device to watch twitch TV on but I'm happy to help test for others that want to know. I might not be able to test Netflix as I don't use it and don't want to pay for it, already done free trial. If there is a way to test for free let me know.
I am going to test heat while playing 4k video, is cpuz okay for checking Temps?Last edited by Rustdroid; 22 November 2018, 09:42.

I'm an android developer and I recently acquired a chinese android box from VideoStrong : Meecool KM8 google certified
As you know Netflix android TV version are prohibited or limited for these android TV Box.
I try so many version linked on XDA forum, freaktabs, etc... without success.
I finally found the Netflix [3.2.2-Android TV Mod] apk by tork24 (DeaLabs.com) which is working in HD but NOT in ULTRAHD
So I decided to rummage the official netflix app, and I found that Netflix app looks for some system properties that I want to share.
Here, there are :
sys.amazon.devicename
sys.display-size
vendor.display-size
ro.nrdp.modelgroup
ro.vendor.nrdp.modelgroup
ro.nrdp.oemmodel
ro.vendor.nrdp.oemmodel
I found how to run Netflix in ULTRAHD mode :
Requirement:
- Download the Netflix [3.2.2-Android TV Mod] apk by tork24: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qkK...8F4X-Ywcg/view
- You need a box with Google widevine L1 available
- Find a way to hide that your android box is rooted or unrooted after modifying build.prop
Follow these steps
1/ Your android box is rooted
- add/modify this line to your /system/build.prop :
ro.nrdp.modelgroup=FIRETVSTB2015
sys.display-size=3840x2160
- Unroot your box
2/Your box is NOT rooted
- Enable Debug USB mode
- type this command
adb ro.nrdp.modelgroup FIRETVSTB2015
adb sys.display-size 3840x2160
3/I DON'T UNDERSTAND
Don't worry I made an app that do the job for you.
You'll just have to launch it, instead of netflix app.
You can download it here :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qKD...DLs91A4uy/view
or
https://mega.nz/#!d4FniSYZ!sQ-20oDVR...wLkdlpPITOvftw
I hope this thread can help you to enjoy Netflix ULTRAHD.
This method also work to use the Netflix app (6.17 build version) form the PlayStore, but only for HD.
Just ignore the error -14 message the first time you launch my app.
Sorry for my bad English.
If you want to let me a cookie, it is there :
Give that dev a cookie -> https://www.paypal.me/yablio
PS : I'm working to how to exploit the ro.nrdp.oemmodel system property. If anyone have an idea...

Hello friends, i am new to this site, and yesterday i receive my mecool KM9. Here are some of my first impressions of it.
1. The device is not rooted.
2. It's pretty compact, like a xiaomi mi box 3.
3. It took about 30 seconds to boot.
4. Remote is bluetooth, no air mouse.
5. No Netflix installed, couldn't find netflix on google play.
6. I installed HBO Go from google play, but it's not working, just turned out a blue screen and that's it.
7. I installed Amazon Prime video modified apk from a french site and is not working either. It let you enter the menu, log in to your account, browse the content, and watch trailers but can't watch any video (movies or series).
8. I installed a modified version of Netflix 3.2.2. made by Tork24, and it worked. My tv is 720p, but i tested the resolution from the "parameter test" video on netflix and it says 1080p. I will try to connect it on a 4k tv today and update this.
9. The wifi antenna is not so strong. This was clear to me as my tv has wireless adapter and the signal on my bedroom is good. Wifi speed no this device is barely sufficient.
10. I installed Asphalt 8, bombsquad and Crossy Road. Only tried the last one and seems to run well.
11. The box has aptoide installed, from this app i downloaded terrarium (crashed every time at start) and popcorn time (functional but as i mentioned, the wifi is not strong and the video stuttered a lot).
12. It comes with a preinstalled side loader launcher app, i installed google chrome and tried to browse but without a mouse is imposible to click the content of the web pages.
13. I couldn't put a netflix channel on the home menu. Just got three (apps, youtube, google play movies, and hbo but it did not work so i hide it). I don't know how can i add more.
14. You can turn it on and off with the remote.
This is my first android TV OS box, i was hoping the google play catalog was bigger. At present (just played two hours with it), i have mixed feelings with this box. The spec sheets looks great but the netflix app is a major issue for the common person (was thinking on gift this to my mom).
Pros.
Sleek design.
Great specs for the price.
Android TvOS
Cons.
Installing Netflix is tricky. It might not be 4k.
Android TvOS is cool but the catalog is limited.
Sorry for the bad pictures, it was very dark. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 6 photos.6 Photos

1. Same as KM8. I think that no official Android TV device can be sent with root access from the factory, as it would not get the Google approval. Although the KM8 comes with unlocked bootloader.
2. Same as KM8.
4. Same as KM8.
5. Same as KM8.
7. Instead, install the Prime Video for Android TV app from the Aptoide Store. Search for "Prime Video" and get the one with a blue background logo. The latest version is 4.10.3 (googleplay-armv7a). But for it to work it's needed the box to have Microsoft PlayReady DRM support, as the KM8 does. Use DRM Info app to check it.
8. The same one I use in KM8. I do not have 4K TV so 1080p is fine for me. It seems that this versions doesn't get till 2160p resolution. William Grondin (Yablio) posted a solution for that in the KM8 topic
LINK
9. Same impresson I have with the KM8.

Does anyone understand what he is saying? I guess it must have been a modified netflix APK with a hacked ESSN, because Mecool does not have a deal with Netflix or do they??
If this box was in fact google certified, DRM working, and Netflix approved it would almost be "perfect". Why then buy a Mi Box S when you can get this? But it seems like they do not have a deal with Netflix. That sucks. It means that the app can stop working at any time.

New model to KM8 bla bla bla
Netflix able to stream 4k UHD
Bad wifi reception as compared to KM8
Box emits diff color bla bla bla
Mibox S has better mktg strategy and would cater to those whom wants just reputable streaming device with just few apk installed unlike many here who mods here there everywhere

What does it show for HDCP level?
Widevine L1
HDCP v1.x
So no 4K for any paid streaming service.

For example, I have a fully functional Mi Box, which everyone knows to support HDCP 2.2, therefore 4K content, including Netflix.
But, for the reason that my TV is only 1080p capable, it also shows just HDCP 1.x as max level support.
