use the rom flash tool but flash only the kernel you want to try by changing the the path of the kernel section to the one of the kernel you want to flash and un-check all the other boxes (boot, recovery parameter, etc)

just for future reference (I forgot to say this but..), if you flash a new kernel and change the resolution, for example, from 720p to 1080p you'd also have to flash a new boot.img (1080p).
I beleave thats how it woks ( havn't really tried it because my hdtv goes up to 720p), but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong

Right, I read that in the readme.txt I was just a little unclear about reflashing other stuff. I saw this:

          13) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).
Use this to easily get into flash mode to change boot.img's or later kernels!
and like that idea because the x7 likes to disconnect from my pc very quickly it seems, and it also takes me like 5 tries to get the flash tool to see the x7.

Anyone know whether there is a mod version of the popular XBMC 0219 build which will work with the stafstrom SPDIF passthru patch on X7 ?

So far the mod versions of XBMC I can find which works with stafstrom SPDIF passthru are giving some errors - commoncache, script errors.

            Thanks !

just received my x7 and flashed it with Finless, all is working perfectly thanks

but have one problem with torrents, downloading through any torrent client seems to work sporadically

the client will climb to almost full speed download and then gradually decrease to a few bytes sit there for a few seconds\minute and climb back up only for the speed to decrease again

I have tried multiple clients but the result is always the same on ethernet and wireless, can anyone shed some light on this problem?

I noticed the same thing and I used several bit torrent clients. The bit torrent client starts out at full speed then drops to a few bytes. Never had this problem on any other android device. Also, music skips when played in the background. A few bugs remain...

See this thread http://www.minixforums.com/threads/h...if.1813/page-6. Stafstrom had made a patched Feb19th version that worked for him, but not for anybody else (including me). I also saw that mo123, which has a set environment for compiling XBMC revisions, had shown some interest in this (http://www.minixforums.com/threads/l...mc.411/page-19). Problem is @stafstrom is MIA. Maybe we should ping mo123 on this. The advantage of the Feb 19th build is that it supports libstagefright and most of the addons still work (later Gotham builds broke many of them). BTW, I've installed the OUYA XBMC version, which is based on Frodo 12.3 build and supports libstagefright, side by side with the Sep 5th Gotham moded build for multichannel. I use one for addons and one for playing local HD files (with multichannel audio). Having both functionalities in one build would be very nice, though.

If you leave the X7 in ROM flash mode too long with no activity it does this. It just powers down!
So once you get into flash mode don't wait too long.

I have never seen a stick do this and it is a little frustrating.

Why put it in flashmode and do nothing?

So is this usable on anything else than an X7? With a different kernel?

                            Signature? Signature!

Yea seems a bit odd. Do you think this is a hardwired "feature"? If so I wonder what the timeout is based on because it feels all over the place to me anywhere from 15 sec to 1 min.
