Hi, I recently got the TX6 and put it through some tech testing.
Setting the 4K resolution Loading a 4k HEVC video, a Youtube 4k test and Hardware info tests.
I also stumbled upon an internal hardware info screen which was quite surprising.
I made a video on three ways to update the box without flashing.
I have written all the info I could find, i update my video description and or webpage with video.
Hope this helped , please give kudosLast edited by GadgetsHome; 02 October 2019, 09:57.

Huh... I must be missing something here and now I'm curious. Of course I know what a powered USB hub is, but am uncertain on how it's supposed to help with this issue without a Y-cable. Like, whhat exactly am I connecting to the USB hub? What cable and device?
Originally posted by c,lei View PostDoesn't really matter. Pretty much all chinese made ones like the TX6 will. Older/Orginal Roku devices used to, not sure about the newer ones. Also not sure if Firesticks or Chromecast devices or ones like them ever did.
In theory, yes.
In practice, these cheap chinese boxes often bring weak power supply units, with non-existent qc, and struggle to provide stable amperage via usb port - which can be dramatic for a 2.5 1TB drive, It can work smoothly one day or two and suddenly the drive is corrupted and data lost. Ask me how I know. Of course, this is easily sorted out with any ~$25 externally powered enclosure or a dock station, but I don't have any available rn.
This isn't about IDing the drive as I think you might be thinking, it's about being able to power it in continuous duty.
Anyway, I actually ordered this box and will report the findings in regards to this issue.

It's what NASA and other space agencies do with it's space probes like the mars rovers that managed to work for 10-15 years when people thought they would be lucky to get 90 days out of them. There's no point in overdriving/stressing these devices like you suggest for little or no real world gain.
What you are suggesting is just plain stupid, especially when you realize that 99% of the people who advocate this kind of nonsense have no real idea what's involved in the process.
Obviously you can't read correctly.
I am not advocating "overdriving/stressing" the CPU, the H6 Base Clock rate is 1.8GHz and with Android but "Tanix" can't design an android kernel to access the Base Clock rate and they have to UNDER-CLOCK the CPU due to heat issues. "Over-driving" would be pushing the CPU to overclock at 2.2GHz and is Not at all what I have been talking about in any previous post. Allwinner does all the testing and development of the CPU and if the silicon couldn't handle the loads Allwinner would sell it advertised as 1.5GHz or less, not advertise the Chip for sale at 1.8 GHz which is what that H6 CPU can handle in daily extended usage under a Linux kernel and Linux OS for the H6 powered development boards.

For Tanix and all the other H6 TVbox manufactures to not be smart enough to release an android kernel where the CPU doesn't hit it's standard clock rating because they can't manage the heat well is stupid. One exception is the Beelink GS1 which has the H6 chip and it can reach the 1.8 GHz maximum with Android, and no it doesn't stay pegged at the frequency to return a better benchmark or create too much heat because that box barely has any ventilation at all, but Beelink was able to create a better android kernel for the H6.

Don't buy a TX6mini because the cheaper price, pay extra for the regular TX6 32GB or 64GB storage with dual-wifi and bluetooth, or buy a better device like Beelink GT-mini.

Does the Tanix TX5 Pro also have the stupid design of small heatsink then thermalpad then large heatsink like the TX6 comes with?

Pretty much the same firmware as 20190507, except for the boot up screen. I flashed the 0507 firmware onto this box using the phoenixcard program and it flashed without and trouble, no activation needed. After some time I flashed back the original firmware the box came with. I'm not sure why people are complaining about these boxes, I have been using them for a few days now and not have had any issues.
Video playback is flawless, 4k youtube videos play flawlessly. Kodi works great. and wifi is pretty good as well. I also got two other new boxes, tx5 pro, they come with android 8.1 and use the s905x cpu, pretty much the same interface as these tx6 boxes and they also work good. No issues on any of the boxes, touchwood.
