Start at the bottom and work you way up to you find what works for tou. I'm using 5.1.0 build 17074
So, I've tested from version 4.0.x to 4.9.x.
From 4.1 to 4.8 worked for me (But the 4.1 to 4.3 doenst show subtitles, and the 4.8 has a bug that crashes the app everytime i press return, keyboad or screen. So I'm using 4.7).
Beginning at 4.9 none of the rest worked. The same "Can't reach service" thing.
These are the tablet apps, so you are going to have a mouse for a better experience. I have a wireless mini keyboard with a trackpad, so it is the workaround for now.
I'm about to try to instal the Netflix addo-on for Kodi. I'll let you know if this works.

And those boxes and sticks have issues too.
Fire tv 4k is slow when it comes to Kodi.
Mi Box S pixelates on 4K.
Or you could still use Mecool if you don't need NETFLIX.

I can't understand what the issue is.
I can use netflix on my shitty phone and not on my Mecool Box?
Is this going to be fixed? Can this be fixed?

I dont see it could be fixed very soon.
Make sure you buy the box that is offically authorized and listed in netflix website NEXT TIME.

Yes. Because your shitty phone has paid DRM L1 to Google as well and Netflix have offically authorized them.

We have asked the manufacturer and they have the following reply (the orginal message is in chinese, it is a translated version):
"Google have recently recuirted a new department head that is responsible for this authorized stuffs.
Our company (Mecool, the company of these TV boxes) have sent PR to talk with Google and have no good result.
We don't see this could be solved in a short period of time..."
If you don't want to waste your money on subscription and don't want to wait for a workaround for netflix, it is better to buy a new box.
It is Christmas time and not very expensive. USD$35 could get a firetv.
This is the fastest solution now.
We have already faciliated a group of buyers to demand the sellers to put pressure on the manufacturer.
In the intention that they could provide US an update or solve this problem with Google.
Another possibility is seeking help in this forum and see any professional programmer here could give us an update.
So PLEASE stop hassling us by telling what we should buy and how much this or that product costs, you're being blatantly OFF TOPIC, all your suggestions are NOT being of ANY HELP, and we DON'T NEED your advice on purchasing anything in these threads, so save it for the appropriate threads.

Originally posted by mymo View PostWhen I bought the box, I for one didn't know anything about Netflix restrictions about specific boxes. I knew that Widewine L1 was necessary and this box supports it as all reviews showed, also the device was promoted (and still is) as Netflix Hd compatibile and when it arrived the original Netflix for Android Tv app was not only pre installed but updateable through the official Play store. So we as users did our due diligence before buying the box, and had it been bought in the EU this incompatibility would be enough to call upon the manufacturer's responsibility. Since this can't be done, we're trying to push Videostrong to release a fix, if that is possible.
