I guess to answer your questing simply, depending upon your needs, and apps that you use, the Shield WILL replace your CoreELEC box.
I have a 65" Samsung 4k TV, and a mid-range Yamaha AVR that plays ALL the audio codecs, including the HD audio codecs.MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

I had to switch to my CoreELEC box. As you are aware, CoreELEC will play ** EVERYTHING **. My movies have a variety of different encoding formats, and only my Zidoo X9S and my Shield will play all of them natively. None of my Amlogic boxes running Android will play my movies encoded with the VC-1 codec, but these boxes running LibreELEC or CoreELEC will play them flawlessly.

There are only 3 AndroidTV devices compatible with Netflix now and they are the Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi Mi and Jetstream 4K box.
In some countries, cable tv companies also have their own AndroidTV devices compatible with Netflix 4K if they signed a $5m a year deal with Netflix.
I don't think Mecool will ever have better Netflix again as they are on Google and Netflix's blacklists I guess.

@mo123 from this it looks, however, that more than three - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...atible_devices

The wikipedia link still says Wetek plays Netflix, but it isn't the case anymore.
Here are all the Netflix compatible devices.
Netflix is available on most TVs, streaming players, phones, tablets, game consoles, and computers. Read the article to learn more.
The Xiaomi Mi and Jetstream 4K seems to be the only devices missing from that list.
