New ROM is 1.6a

1.6a fixes:
Fixes touch screen issues with real USB touch screens AND for APPs that need to emulate touches like Six Axis or Tinecore APP.
I replaced some lib files and added virtual_touchscreen.ko. The lib files were the key to fixing touch!

Bug:
Factory Data reset does not always work! At least on the V1 boards. I do not know if it does on the V3 boards. This bug exists in the stock ROM as well.
It works for me on my V1 board about 1 out of 5 times. This is some issue with the new kernel.
What I notice is if you leave the stick on for about 5 minutes then do a factory reset it seems to work. But it does not want to work right after a boot up. Very odd.
If your factory data reset does not work at all, simply fire up the flash tool and flash ONLY misc.img. On next boot it will do a factory erase.

Hey folks. So I finally finished the MK908 ROM.
I know some of you do not like the stock ROM that was released which this ROm is based off of.
But for me and my V1 board I love it. Best ROM yet from Tronsmart in my opinion.
Anyway I did try to fix some things for you V3 owners but probably not 100% to your liking.
Legitsu may have the answers to some things for the V3.

The odd thing about the stock ROM is the kernel is a 1080P kernel!
I found this out by editing build.prop
changing this to a 0
video.use.overlay=0
caused it to reboot at full 1080 and Antutu or other tools reported it as 1920x1080. With that set to a 1, Antutu reported it at 1280x720.
So I patched the kernel to a 720 kernel and got an increase in performance! Thus I give you my ROM with the 720 kernel and you can go back to 1080 kernel if you like.

Features and release notes for my 1.6 ROM:

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.

8) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device nopt a MK908 or RKSDK! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a 908.
WARNING if you do this, you need to be using the 1080 kernel or your screen will be oversized!

9) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

10) 1080P Kernel if you want it! Tronsmart released a 1080 kernel but faked it back to 720.
I have unpacked it from boot and made it a choice in this ROM package.
See instructions below for how to choose the correct boot.img and kernel.img
720P boot and kernel is the default setup in my flash tool.

11) I fixed the double Camera icon showing up in the APP drawer.

Update:
After a 2 hours of usage 908 v3 default settings:

pros
Smooth run
Wifi seems to bo solid.
The device is cool and stable

cons
(Really) Missing the auto hide status bar option.
The (stock) pointer is just huge, would be nice to have an option to take this thing out of the screen.

I know I hate it too but the last time I changed it, other people complained they liked it!

You cannot please all the people all the time!

But you can open framework-res.apk with 7zip and change the mouse pointer graphic (simple PNG file) to whatever you like! It's not hard and it is not rocket science!

Thanx for cleaning up this rom but 720 kernel makes my screen turn off and on or flicker every few seconds on my v.1 mk908 stick...installed an over-clocked latest stock kernel for v.1 & v.3 and now your runs smooth...Did not tried your 1080 kernel...using instead the oc 1080 kernel put together by Mariano using the phjanderson scripts and kernel from latest stock ROM...However I really prefer the 720 kernel...

Update: reflashed 720p kernel...was able to get it to work by selecting 1080 on HDMI display settings....Antutu score was 17,900...Is this a 720 or 1080 kernel??

Flashed my V3 with your new ROM: same result as at all ROMs. First all work very fast without problems, Youtube videos work excellent. Then I switch off and switch on after some minutes. Everything work except internet videos is not possible to watch: first videos are loading for 10 times longer, when they are loaded again they buffer and buffer. I think something happens when stick is reset; after reset some settings for internet videos are set back as original setting.

I flashed this last night on my 908 and it's smooth as butter.

Very stable and I appreciate the K400 keyboard being mapped correctly. BONUS!!

Netflix was smooth and XBMC XAF edition is really outstanding on this rom. My 908 is one of the first ones so I guess it's a V1.

Watched some movies and a little Netflix last night. No heat issues and no reboot.

I'm digging the new boot logo as well.

xbmc and 1.6 w/v3 mk908

Hi All,
Love the rom, especially since could not get 1.5 to work, had the continuous reboot. Does anyone know a version of xbmc that would work with rom and v3. I tried the xbmc AUF and it crashed a couple seconds after I opened it.

Or any recommendations on a streaming apk that works well. Looking to stream icefilms and similar.

Oh, I see that video stutter is a long way story for MK908. Here is one comment on geekbuying blog from July 2013 ( not good news ):
"Video stutter issue is still present on this version. So far, we know it has something to do with mk908 kernel which outputs lower number of frames per second to HDMI source, maybe 10 to 15 fps during video play which makes video jittery. You see that using any video player especially when playing 720p or higher res videos. It’s as well present when playing through youtube and netflix. There is no solutions at this time neither from developers nor Tronsmart. It is so far not sure if Tronsmart developers know about this issue as there is no direct way to contact them."
