The reason I have been streamlining the system is to try to make the whole package smaller. It seems like these firmware packages are getting much bigger. I'll try to find a workable size.

I've no idea how parameter works, but I'd like to see free space on /system increase in some proportion to 2, 4, ... size. 256MB free is a lot if you are 2GB, but more reasonable if you pick 6GB.

Ok guys. I killed it in the end with titanium backup. Found com.provision.android and uninstalled. As if by magic the file provision.apk in the system/apps folder dissapeared! Now adding user #2 is easy. I must admit Randy I am doing this in the Katsy Rom but would much prefer to be using yours as it is a lot quicker/smoother [from the short time i have used it] if you could sort out the language/keyboard issue I will give it another go. Me thinks maybe you are just going a bit too fast for your own good

Pipo M9 Pro RileyROM 1.8 - Missing Apps and launcher

One more thing. The black screen you get on first boot is the provision app setting up the Pipo apps that I leave in. It requires an internet connection. Since it is searching for a bunch of apps that I have deleted, it takes a while to finish...just let it do it's thing. Eventually you will get the prompt to select which launcher to use.

Hm... I gave it about 15 minutes - nothing happend. Rebooted, waited 10 minutes - nothing happend. There where no activity arrows on the wifi-sign (upper right) so I don't think the tablet was doing anything. So I think just waiting won't help for me. Any idea what to do?
Don't know if it's importand: at first boot after flashing, I selected "German" as language...

I suspect you need to mount /system as Read/Write. In ES Explorer, select Tools on the left, then Root Explorer, then Mount R/W and pick RW for /system. If it already says RW, it must be something else. That would also allow you to delete Provision.apk (Rename to SomethingElse.apk won't work to allow multi-user).

You can get BuildProp Editor free at Google Store. It should change things so that you can write the file and then change them back. It lets you change individual lines w/o editing the whole thing (unless you want to add lines).

SMS update

I put this together last night and uploaded it this morning.

This is a redo of the SMS version with a little bit larger system.img file and a different superuser (SuperSU).

I did not include the Chinese keyboard with this version, but I think there's room to add it now. I'm at work, so I don't have a link...but I can post this file to download and install. Meantime, I've found a way to make the keyboard default to the standard keyboard without deleting the Chinese keyboard (I think). I'll have to test my theory tomorrow.

reflash stock and then riley again. dont forget to erase NAND. what you describe happened to me once as well. reflashing sorted it.

solved it! I used the "re-flashing" to modified the parameter file up to 16 gb internal storage. Now the first tests are running - and they working like charm! THANKS Riley!!!

Change the Superuser to chainfire SuperSU and install the busybox in the xbin folder which SuperSU liked.

On Wifi - i'm kind of happy if it works... but also notice the power drain when the device is on sleep and most users won't know how to fix this..

Also agree that the 2gb is to small. I'm one of those who stopped reading Readme1st 20 years ago... so i missed the parameters thing... and yes Apex is way better than pipo's launcher. having the apps updated is a nice to have.

i actually also dont like the riley boot animation - pipo's is rather elegant. i know- matter of taste. saw one from italian community where they take the pipo one and just have a rotating text italian community. Riley could do the same.

OK Randy, I will await your later release with baited breath. No point me trying a release that you know has only one keyboard. Does nobody else out there have the same problem - manic keyboard on start up - until all swipe/dictionary/spell checks are unchecked - not able to use different language/input method ? I experienced the same problem with 1.6, but thought it was me, not the ROM, so did not report it! On another subject - Bootamination is pretty easy to change if you know how!! - simply grab an animation from the net and change the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media. Job done!

I have a big problem with installing on my PIPO M9Pro - Pipo_M9Pro_RileyROM_1.8sms2 software. After the message: "INFO: Run OK" and nothing happens. Waiting 20 minutes and nothing. Someone succeeded in do it?
