I dont like "rilley rom" logo and "boot loading" logo here..
It is what it is so either delete it or change it your self... easy to do... 2 secs to delete... a few more to replace

I'm working on a new one. For the first screen...the stock Pipo screen with my logo in the corner.

          Hard Bricked?

[QUOTE=rrileypm;103561]This ROM is based on the official Pipo update.....

I followed the manual - did the flashing using the OTA. Worked fine, ERASEIDB only goes to 8168. Wanted more than 2 gig, so set parameter to 4 gig and reflashed. Again I cannot get more than 8168 after Erase IDB. Several retries, no change, so I try to flash anyhow.

Stuck in bootloop. Tried the "What to do if flashing goes wrong", but no luck. Looking at other forums. I cannot seem to find a solution. Both my computers don`t seem to recognize the M9, however I try.

So, it seems I cannot get into flashmode at all.

          Any suggestions? Hard bricked?

No, you aren't hard bricked. You are just hung up for some reason. 8168 seems to be correct. It will be the same with whatever parameter you choose. I'm not sure what caused the flash to hang up. Try a different parameter file.

            Do this:

Get a paper clip and press the reset button to turn the tablet off.

Then hook the tablet to pc via USB

Then get into flash mode manually by

            M7pro U8 M8pro M9 M9pro(android4.2.2):press the “ESC“&“power” key for a few seconds,no need of pressing reset key.

I'll have to take a look and see if any of the apps I removed during the debloat process might have broken 3G, but I don't think so.

So... I restored the stock (latest) firmware. After rebooting, both WiFi and 3G work seemlessly. I can switch between the two either by turning off WiFi or Modem Power individually, or by simply moving out of range of WiFi. I then tried RileyRom v1.8 SMS2, and couldn't even get to the boot screen after flashing. The device just hung with a blank screen. I reflashed RileyRom v1.8 OTA, and things came ok. But I did notice that during the boot process, with the stock firmware the 3G network becomes active almost immediately and the 3G icon begins to flash even before I configure WiFi. When I configure WiFi, it switches over and both icons stay active. With the RielyRom on the other hand, the 3G network never seems to activate until after I both configure WiFi and reboot the device.

Both 3G and WiFi seem to work now, but to reliably switch between then I need to reboot the device with the undesired network switched off. i.e. if I want to switch to 3G, I need to turn off both WiFi and modem power in the settings, reboot the device, then turn on modem power and reboot again. Same thing to switch back to WiFi. I need to turn on WiFi in the settings, the device will find the network but be unable to connect until I reboot.

              PITA, but it works.

BTW, I didn't see any of this sort of behaviour from the stock ROMs.

I'm happy to do more testing if anyone can offer any suggestions.

                Backup and Restore Question

I have SuperSU, BusyBox, Explorer, and of course Titanium Backup installed.

My question is... Titanium Backup is great for restoring all the apps when I do a ROM firmware change, but the thing that is the most time consuming is rebuilding all of my home screens and widgets. I've read the Titanium Backup wiki page, and it seems to indicate that the wallpaper, widgets, and icons have to be restored manually.

Am I missing something, or is there some faster way to restore all this? After customizing all the home screens and setting up all the widgets just the way I want them, it's a real PITA to have to recreate the groups, widgets, and home screen icon placements each time I reflash the ROMs (something I have been doing a lot lately, and probably will continue until I get everything stable and working just the way I want).

                Anybody have a better solution?

                  backup & restore answer

Hey Snowman - try using a launcher like Apex or Nova - my Apex has a backup/restore function that I am pretty sure will put all the screens back to where you want them automatically. I have not yet done this on my device as I am (patiently) waiting for Randy to come up with his next ROM with all the issues resolved - seriously, I can't use 1.8OTA or SMS2 as the keyboards are a nightmare for me (see earlier posts) but just to give you (Randy) a boost, this Katsy ROM I am using does not work on Bluetooth!! I switch it on and it simply switches off again - strange, but true!

I'm using Habit browser. It's the fastest I've tried, highly configurable and is super comfortable to use in full screen mode due to the browser's built in pie controls.

                      A must try!

Be 100% sure that you actually have a M9pro.
I was certain that's what I had. But after similar problems to you, I eventually realised that I had a M9 Max!!!!!!
The logo on the rear at the bottom should say "Pipo M9Pro". The word "pro" is small, but it is there. If you don't see "pro" then you have a M9 Max. Go to RileyROM's firmware for the M9 Max.
                        Cheer up

I use FireFox Beta for Android. But then I have been a firefox beta tester for almost a decade now. Talk about Brand loyalty!

Since I am brand new to the tablet scene I decided to use FireFox beta and just learn that. It is very quick, however it does use 19.98 MB of memory. This memory usage is still less than Google Play Store.....

Riley: Thanks for the 1.8OTA it works very well after I got it flashed (first time user)

Hmmm... Seems a bit pricey for a used one. I just bought my 3G M9 Pro for less than your Buy it Now price, and only a few dollars more than your Starting Bid price. I got mine from Focalprice.com because I've dealt with them before and know them to be extremely reputable.

Europe custom fees are more or less 30% of total value when its shipped from outside europe (now that im shipping from inside europe already any EU country buyer wont have to pay) , plus the dakine case, and this has 1 month old, its has new!

                                Kind regards.
