    Thanks,

Depends on the version. There is a different flashing tool. Rokchip batch (flash) tool and the Riley Flash tool. If you go with the latest version - in the riley rom you have the option to choose parameters in size for installing apps vs. storage (2-4-6-8-10 gb). From what I gather there might also be less trouble with the Riley rom. I wanted to get rid of screen flickering. I also wanted the option of VPN and preinstalled TUN drivers\software was an option for both.

I use ADB quite a bit, but it isn't required to flash firmware. It is easy to copy-paste stuff I might do in a Terminal window on the tablet. That gives me an easy way to get into Flash:
      F:\PIPO\RK3188_ROOT>adb reboot bootloader
Once in that mode, I only have Class for rockusb devices displayed for two minutes before it disappears (from inactivity). After inactivity, it is sort of a "sleeping loader" mode and Riley's Flash tool says No RKAndroid and RKBatchTool has neither Pink or Green showing. While "sleeping loader" (don't know what to really call it), just pressing Esc and Power down for 3 seconds will make it come back to "ready to flash" mode. That is indicated in RKBatchTool by it being Green and Riley's Flash says
      Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb
That is different than what it says when it detects the Removable disk driver (RKAndroid Mass Storage).

I'm useless for ideas about Error 10 and I'm not clear on where you see it or what you have to do to make it display. Is it the response to trying Erase NAND once it displays Found RKAndroid Loader? Wild guess would be that it is either the "Class for rockusb" driver (trying another PC could work) or whatever got loaded as the Loader is a problem. If you think you might have added a check to the Loader box, mention it. Randy has posted a few times about the problem with selecting Loader, so I never have tried.

Totally out of random ideas though!

now we are talking. Literally! The SDK actually manages to recognize my tablet. The Flash tool recognizes the tablet, but fails to reboot to flash or be flashed (says it no MSI).

Now - I do have problems getting to install the rockchip usb driver. Only the Android ADB interface driver seems to be working and SDK recognizes and talks to it.

              FIX.

And so - from one computer to another - the rockchip batch tool seems to do the job... writing ... writing... voila!

Analysis: RK device revived using SDK toolkit (that reinstalled the proper google drivers) and the device showed up as Android ADB driver. Then SDK tool with ADB command line talks reason to it with the commandline: adb reboot bootloader. My desktop then tries to install new drivers for some unknown android device. This "must" be the rockchip drivers which were so f..... impossible to install on my desktop having a "soft bricked" device. So: Moving over to my laptop - the Rockchip batch tool recognises the unit, the driver works fine for the first time since soft bricking it! Pressing switch it gives an error (prolly because ADB command already switched it) and then i press restore having loaded the Kasty rom.

              It works.

BillinCA: (also for unknowingly solving the error 10 problem)

Now hugging my tablet and at the same time wondering what to do with the Xperia Tablet Z I ordered as a replacement.

EDIT: Only after hitting submit do I find you are up and running. Congrats. Still curious if you can use ADB 1.0.31 on the M9Pro though. You can just ignore all the rest!

Odd - I've never been able to use ADB from the SDK

                F:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb version
                Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31

                F:\PIPO\RK3188_ROOT>

Is your ADB Version 1.0.31? I've been trying to get that to work for a long time.

When you put the tablet into Flash:
                ADB reboot bootloader
do you get an unknown device in Dev Mgr and it won't accept whatever you offer with "have disk"?

I Uninstalled mine while it was in Bootloader (Flash) and when I now go to bootloader, I get Unknown and when I select its Properties, then Details tab, Hardware IDs show
                USB\VID_2207&PID_310B&REV_0100
                USB\VID_2207&PID_310B
If I Update Driver and browse to when I Unzip'd a RileyRom's flash driver
                F:\PIPO\Pipo_M9_Pro_RileyROM_1.7b\drivers
It picks the 32/64 bit version as needed. It just looks for a .INF with a line that matches the Unknown USB\VID value:
                ; DisplayName Section DeviceId
                [Rockchip.NTx86]
                %Rockusb_DeviceDesc%=Rockusb_DDI, USB\VID_2207&PID_320A
                %Rockusb_DeviceDesc%=Rockusb_DDI, USB\VID_2207&PID_310A
                %Rockusb_DeviceDesc%=Rockusb_DDI, USB\VID_2207&PID_310B
                %Rockusb_DeviceDesc%=Rockusb_DDI, USB\VID_2207&PID_300A
                blah, blah ...

Does if find the Drivers folder "suitable" or rejects it and no driver found? Or it lets you Install but doesn't work and the device remains Unknown? If it does get Installed with the wrong driver, you should be able to Uninstall and check the box that says Delete driver. But I've also read several times that you can't get the right one once you have a wrong one. I guess it is also possible that there is something wrong with the drivers directory. If you have a different RileyRom downloaded, you could try its driver directory.

Lastly - are you Win8? I've seen a couple things about having to enable unsigned drivers for either Flash or ADB (can't remember) and steps needed in Win8 to get that to work.

[QUOTE=rrileypm;106651]So, did you not get my ROM flashed successfully?[/QUOTE

Yes. I tried to flash directly from kasty rom to riley rom 1.8. No problem.

Must have been a random error. However: I learnt a lot.

Regarding SDK and ADB (version 1.0.31).
                    - Install Google SDK base. This installs the ADB tool on default.
                    - To launch ADB I did this:http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html. run - cmd - copying in the adress from where SDK keeps the ADB and finally "cd adb".

Installing drivers: There is not such an issue if it goes wrong once. On three pc`s I now have no problem - and two of these installed the drivers wrong. Forcing drivers with the "Have disc" method is quick and requires only some guidance into when to install what. The most important for me: when in flashmode force install of the rockchip usb drivers on the android\unknown\whatever device that pops up then. It works.

Getting into flashmode: it seems to be possible in a number of ways. It is also possible through the SDK and ADB: but for the novice this requires installing much of the developer tools for android software. It is scary ..and back to the 80`s; filled with nostalgic dostype commands. It took about 2-3 hours digesting new information before i was able to write the solution: "abd reboot bootloader".

I still don`t know why I had this problem in the first place.

Seems they just launched new drivers OTA. I `m now flashing those..

                        WiFi ??!!

hi Randy, I just found this post over on the archtab site and it reminded me that I had noticed the same issue that the WiFi display is always on - This COULD be the root cause of everyone's problems with the WiFi ? Just a thought, maybe it will help? Hello,
I also suffer from WiFi issues as well as 3G connection which sometimes causes frozen display (especially when the signal is weak or only connected as edge), shaking or "mad" cursor which jumping through the display and randomly switches applications.
I made my first flash with RileyROM 1.7b, at the first moment it looked that problems were solved, but then again raised and it behaved in almost same manner as I described above. After some googling I found that forum and flashed my PIPO M9Pro 3G 32Gb with kasty-pipo-m9_pro_3G rom from September release.
No success, still with wifi and 3G connection issues.
My direction is now heading me to wireless display. From the first moments I was surprised that there is no option to switch off wireless display in the display settings menu. Then I went to an application which is named wirelessdisplay which is not listed among installed application list from settings menu but found it among running applications. The application has short cut among (an icon) and when I tap that it starts running but there is missing menu for setup.
My suspicion is that wirelessdisplay is somehow responsible for issues with radio part of the Pipo tablet.
I have tried to find some information or source of that application (wirelessdisplay apk), but no success.
May be somebody has some ideas and better understand these relations and can investigate in that heading.

Thank you and nice day to all android users This is from a guy called tomro - maybe he is on this forum as well - all info helps regardless of the source!

I wonder what would happen if we just removed the wirelessdisplay.apk????

Anyway, I just finished with this ROM, and I'm getting ready to upload it.

For those who would like to see the changes in the latest Pipo Launcher, I left it in. You have to jump through some hoops to get everything initialized on the first boot, though. Also, as an experiment, I left in the ability to receive OEM updates.

I also left in the Chinese keyboard...so you will need to change it to the standard keyboard in settings.

Otherwise, I debloated a chunk of Pipo's apps and provided the usual Rooted ROM experience.

I'll post a link on this thread and if everything goes well with you testers...I'll make a new thread for this new version. I'm just now starting to upload...so stay tuned!!!!!!!

                            wifi display

Hi Randy, blimey, that was quick!! I tried removing the wifi display app - you can force stop in settings, but can't disable or uninstall (I guess because it is an android system app??) I will see if I can find it and delete in using exfileexplorer and get back to you - can't wait for the new ROM, hope the keyboard works this time so I can actually use it !! OOPs, just did a search for wifidisplay and found 16 files - aarrgghh do I just delete the .apk? maybe you should look at it as I am no expert!

                            Comment

oops again - don't delete the wifidisplay app!

Just thought I would try and delete the app - no problem there! Rebooted and went to settings to check if it had gone or not. Slid across to running apps and 'unfortunately settings has stopped' appears!! I guess I will try again when Randy has the new ROM uploaded! The tablet is still working, WiFi is working, its just when I go to settings\apps\running ???

                                v1.9 Testers Needed

                                OK, here it is v1.9

I'll leave the link here for testers. When I get some feedback, I'll make a new thread.

                                Features:

                                Rooted
                                Debloated
                                Pipo Launcher kept
                                OTA updates kept
                                Chinese keyboard kept
4, 8 or 12gb user app space (they seem to be the most popular sizes)
                                Init.d support
                                VPN support

                                Download

It appears that this tablet is the most popular Pipo model at the moment, and I would like to order one to test these ROM's myself.......so...........
