I have experienced this a few times on earlier M7P ROM's...but I was really pushing the envelope each time it happened, so I just thought it was something I was doing that made it happen. I've also heard some reports on a few M6P tablets of it happening more frequently.

I currently don't own an M9 Pro, but I haven't heard that much about freezing with this tablet.

One thing you might do is look at which apps you are running or components you have turned on when it happens.

On my M7 Pro, it happened when I was using my external SD card. I tested the card in Windows and found out it had errors and fixed them. When I returned the SD card back to the tablet...problem solved. I also format all of my external SD's with NTFS instead of FAT32. I have fewer problems that way.

I'll try that but I use the exact same apps as on my Samsung S3 LTE so I would say it isn't an app. It's probably the SD. I just the app would force close rather than freeze! That's what any other device has done! Assuming faults in the stock ROM somewhere.

I hope it's in the stock ROM...and not something I've broken, but I have heard reports of the same thing happening on brand "X" ROM's, too. HAHAHA!!!!

No disrespect to other developers, I just don't want to mention them by name.

Haha had a look around and it seems to be a PIPO problem! Its a shame really. Hopefully it'll steadily get better if they keep supporting the device! Did you just format your SD? I'm.wondering if its because its a 64GB. Should I make it fat32?

That may very well be the problem. Rockchip devices are advertised to accept up to 32gb only on external SD. That's partly due to limitations of Android. I would experiment with different formats, but I would think that NTFS may be the better choice. I've never tried a 64gb card, yet. All mine are 32gb.

                4.3 Wonder

Anyone know or think when Pipo (m9 pro) will have an update to droid 4.3.x?
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

I loaded the recent stock OTA for a while to verify there weren't issues with short power button, experiment with the Gesture app that does put it to "sleep". When I went back to 1.9, I noticed that it doesn't stop on a lock screen after the first flash and it may be that a short power button is disabled until their Setup completes and you pick a Launcher. Maybe something is not right at Setup completion to enable a short power? Probably not significant, but a short power button does make my mouse pointer disappear until the mouse is moved again. So it isn't that the button isn't being noticed.

Haven't yet done much after flashing, but displaying Apps in Launcher, there one after WiFiDisplay that has a Chinese name (except for the letters HD) and an orange pacmanish icon. TitaniumBackup lists it as some Chinese followed by 0.3.1 (110). There is a 2nd one following it but it is Red so not installed. Both might be candidates for removal???

To add multiuser, I've chosen to always start SuperSU app and change settings to enable SU for all users before trying to create the 2nd user. There have been times when setting up the 2nd user for the first time that some app will TEST if SU is available (but not required) and the prompt to Grant is actually displayed under the primary users session. I think that was an out of date SuperSU put on a stock rom though. I do want su available for the 2nd user anyhow, and always do it first now.

Move or delete /system/app/Provision.apk (but I've added and setup with it still in place) and turn off Google check apk in Settings (more for a Stock rom with lots more apps), edit build.prop to have fw.max_users=4 and Add User in settings and reboot. I'm then back to the PiPo Boot the Wizard like on the initial setup (only after closing any running apps like Settings). I had to enable WiFi, but did NOT uncheck en_apk_install this time. I doubt it will get much use as 2nd user since short power doesn't get you to switch users.

I should also mention that I do not get ANY Bootanimation displayed. I looked in the new .zip and see 20 fewer images than the stock .zip. But just a black screen visually. A little disappointed to only find less than 70MB free in /system. Put in the stock bootanimaiton.zip and I get the changing PiPo Stock animation. Renamed your .zip back and I'm again at a black screen animation. Renamed to 19Ani and StockAni and I return to the standard ANDROID animation. Must be something about the pngs or that text file??? Unless it is just me.

More importantly, I'd try something smaller in the M9Pro.

That's what I was afraid of on the bootanimation. I think I know what to do.

I just need the exact actual screen resolution.

You are doing some great testing. I just need to know what to change on my end to get things working.

We'll have a great ROM on our hands with this one.

SIGNIFICANTLY, once I removed your /system/media/bootanimation.zip file, short power functions normally again on 1.9.

The boot animation is too big. I need to shrink it down a bit. It works on the M7 Pro with the exact same resolution (advertised).

If you could...download an app called ScreenSpecs from GP and give me the readings in landscape.

                            AnTuTu lists it as 1920 x 1128.

Downloaded ScreenSpec and it shows the same Width x Height. Did you need the other info from ScreenSpec?

                            I went to portrait and it says 1200 W x 1848 H.

No that's what I needed. It's funny how the bootanimation can jack other things up.

I think Randy needs a Pipo m9 pro tablet to do a better work, therefore I ask all of those who appreciate his help to contribute with a PayPal donation. I already sent mine. It's not too much money but I hope it helps Randy.

                                Best regards,

I agree, except for one or two things.
With all Randy's work in getting Pipo products to be more efficient, and selling more here in the USA, I believe that Pipo should at least send him a new Pipo M9 PRO. And/OR! (At the very least) They should send him, via drop box, the new version of their soon to be released ROM updates of every product he makes his ROM's for. But then this is not a perfect world.

I am currently using the latest version of RileyRom 1.9 on my M9 PRO and it is all good.
I am a newbie, so I always make mistakes.
This last one was a small one, I didn't setup titanium backup to backup to my external SD card,.
Now the first thing I did was install titanium and set it to the external SD card.......

Am now getting all the apps reloaded.....

This is called learning, the hard way.
At least I read the instructions for the ROM flashing.....
