    Pipo M9 Pro RileyROM 1.8

This ROM is based on the official Pipo update posted to their site on 10/12/13. There were two releases...both work on wifi or 3g tablets.

I'm not really sure why Pipo didn't have all of the features in just one ROM, but there was an OTA version and a SMS version...so I made both versions in to ROM's...you can pick which one you like:

    As usual, this ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    init.d support
    Busybox support
    Expanded Ext4 file system
    CWM backup added
    2, 4, 6 or 8gb user app space

    Boot Animations by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus
    Flash Tool by Finless
First Time User's Guide by Pr0xZen

    OTA version:

    Download

    SMS version:

    Download

Some people were having trouble using the above SMS version, so I redid the ROM again and here is the link to SMS2:

    Download

    Enjoy!!!!!!

i successfully flash the stock firmware from pipo.cn. i guess this is quite responsive than the previous version. they also modified the Win8 theme launcher which is more dynamic and can be personalized (including color changes) from 2nd menu and so on. Unlike the previous version, only the Home menu cant be deleted.

Both new official Pipo versions OTA and SMS are both for WIFI and 3G, but the SMS version can send and receive SMS too. Testet.

Cool, thanks a lot! Your 1.7b ist working great so far with multiuser activated.

Is there a changelog somewer for the new version? Does someone noticed some changes performance or feature wise?

          cheers

            Stock formware restore

            Hi Everybody,

            Please help me.
If it is necessary how can I restore the original stock firmware?
Can I use the stock flash tool with the stock firmware (BatchTool_v1.7)?
(As When I upgrade the stock firmware.)

            Thanks,
            Csordi

wifi does not work for me (m9pro wifi). no such issue in stock update. you sure you have the same wifi drivers?

funny thing is it connects to the wifi - but cant establish an internet connection. wifi speed also shows slower than stock. have to revert now.

I had that same wifi issue, connects but no internet connection. But only at first boot. Rebooted tablet and it has worked fine ever since.

                    Many Updates

We will be receiving our Pipo M9 Pro WIFI Tablets next week.....

My wife will probably keep the stock ROM's (rooted) while I will explore, and prove to her, the debloated RileyROM's..

I have been lurking here and have seen the Pipo ROM updates roll out at an alarming rate. I guess Pipo considers the end user as beta testers like in the bad old days (and continuing) of the PC.....

Thanks for all the useful hints/tips/tricks on setting up and using rooted/debloated/Android Tablets.....

Titanium Backup is the tool we will most likely use for the saving of or apps/settings/data.....
See you can learn by lurking.

Currently using the M9 Pro (Wifi) version. Similar issues with wifi in the new RileyRom 1.8. Can't seem to connect to internet even after reboot. Looks like new 1.8 version not very stable. Have reverted to 1.7b for the time being. 1.7b working well with no issues.

Installed RileyRom 1.8 OTA tonight on M9 Pro 3G

ROM seems slicker than previous iteration I was on (1.6)

                        At first boot:
-Pipo Certification error (ignored, No WiFi configured)
                        - Configured WiFi
                        - Launched Reboot App, "Granted" SuperUser permission and rebooted tablet

                        At second boot:
-Added Google Account (but would not connect to internet)
                        So....Rebooted Tablet

                        At third boot:
-Launched Play Store (I needed TitaniumBackup)
-Play Store opened, attempted to update existing apps first, got to update screen (but would not download)
                        So....Rebooted Tablet

                        At fourth boot:
-(Noticed the little "triangle data bar' pop up beside WiFi icon on notification bar, than disappear immediately)
-I automatically received notifications from Gmail and the Play Store regarding apps that need updating
-Relaunched Play Store, updated apps (everything went smooth)
-Downloaded Titanium Backup and began configuring my tablet

My tablet is back to where it was before ROM update. IMO this ROM is much snappier.

Still need to test Bluetooth and VPN

NOTE: IF you know what your doing, just backup your S@!%, download 1.8 and enjoy.....after a few reboots and letting your tablet settle in for a bit, everything should be fine....

...it was for me : )

                        Great Work Randy.

                        UPDATE:

                        Bluetooth works
WiFi seems wicked fast compared to before (IMO)
                        Antutu 18772

I have had no success configuring my VPN connection using PPTP and/or L2TP/IPSec PSK.
Has anyone successfully connected to a VPN now that Tun.ko has been added?

I updated to v1.8 this afternoon. And got similar results that others have reported. Poor or non existent internet at the start.

However, I had previously read the post just above this one and opted to be patient and reboot a few time. Letting the tab sit for a bit between boots.

After the 3rd or 4th boot internet connection seems to be solid. Too early to tell if it's reliable or not. But so far so good.

                              Just tried the RR1.8

Hi all, I just tried the RR1.8 (after owning the M9Pro for a few weeks and testing a few RileyRoms and stock Roms) and the 1.8 rocks. So far no negative issues. After installing at first no connection to the internet, though good wifi. But after a few reboots a nice stable connection, fluid operation of the tablet. Antutu almost 19k. Apps like Current and Nu and NOS are very fluid. Also the stock browser is very fast, nice scrolling. This is the best Rom so far. Once I download the official PIPO Rom I will compare the 1.8 and the stock Rom and decide which one i'll keep. To Mr. Riley: what's the price of a beer in the USA? I will buy you one to keep up the good work for us!
