Working on the spilt boot rooted ROM now.

Yes sadly and the touch screen is all in the kernel not just some simple lib files you can swap out

I have tried on serveral ICS ROMs now to use my gingerbread kernel with the ICS system. No go. Wont boot. ADB shows errors all over the place. Would be cool if we could just swap out the kernel but it's not that easy.

Sadly but this proves its ics capable but they are being greedy and forcing buying new. Perhaps new bootloader may speed up GB tho LOL.

Yes the new boot loader is for sure faster at flashing. Seems the reading back that the flash was good is way faster.

Seems Nextbook has released both capacitive and resistive models of the 7" SE for $30 or $40 difference. Personally, I like the capacitive :-)

Flashed no problem at all, everything seems to work, adb, wifi, camera, speakers, internet access, all the apps . . . yup, pretty much everything.

Now lets see if we can brick this puppy since we have a working stock rom for it :-)

There are 25 free e-books - all public domain stuff that could be removed, ApkInstaller I don't think is required, I don't like Asto file manager but Rhythm Software's file manager is excellent including network support for accessing your PC's. The E-Book reader is uselfull, Explorer sucks, Fring can go, kobo can go, Nextbook FAQ and Guide are as usefull as their tech support :-), and Weather Forecast only supports US locations so it can go too.

As for the 7s ROM for THIS BOY, just full, 'permanent' root will do for now. I can go into ADB and pull out what I don't want myself, once I get a better feel of what's there. As long as I can sideload with Google Chrome's APK Downloader plugin, NOT having Play Store will free up resources for something else. As for E-Books, they're for SD cards, not ROMs.

ROM on Next7P

Excited about this! - but from a previous post this will boot on a Next7P but the trouch screen (Capacitive models) doesn't work?

next8p12 incorrect screen resolution after flash

I flashed mine next8p12 with your rom but i ended with the image only showing in part of the screen and some other problems.i will post you a image so you can see . i tried some other roms as well but i have the same problem with all of them.

Never did that when i tried next8p12 rom on my next7p... it was just majorly overscanned and had no toucscreen support. Now the next7p12 one fit but sadly still no touch support

Sorry guys.... had to fix some bugs on my 2.0 ROM for the Arnova that were needed. Debugging with logcat takes time.

Anyway will get at the ROM today for sure.
