The stock ROM is not missing kernel.img because on this ROM the kernel is in boot.img. THus there is no kernel.img which is why it is unchecked in the flashing tool!
I will be pulling out the kermel when I root this ROM like I do with other ROM where kernel is in boot.img.

If the kernel is in boot.img does that mean its now possible to mod the recovery and make a clockwork mod recovery?Comment

On ANY of the RK tablets kernel can be seperate or in boot.img.

I will later be looking into a clockwork mod with kernel in boot. The outstanding issues is we also need a kernel in recovery! The Cube ROM has that as well and I just learned any RK29 tablet can ALSO have kernel in recovery.
So when I get some time I will be looking at this possibility.

Hey i was playing around i dont know if anyone tried. I tried the resistive and it was a no go. i tried the other ics and it loaded up and everything but no buttons and the screen did not work. im using th 1211 older version.

It is very obvious that the new NextBook tablets have different screen hardware.
This is in the kernel so you know.
I have tried to take my old Gingerbread kernel.img and use the ICS system.img but it will not boot. So ICS needs a new kernel to support it.

What makes no sense is if this tested only on Andypad Pro (a.k.a. Teclast T760) & Yuandao N50DT cm7.1 works on the next7p with touch sound & all why wouldn't the ics ones??Originally posted by Finless View Post

AFAIK, Finless' Next7S-ICS Stock ROM and Root/Play Next7S-ICS ROM 1.2 will ONLY work for YF0312 and later NextBook Premium 7S resistive-screened tablets. These, most likely, WON'T provide anyone an upgrade path for earlier versions of this tablet.
Right now, only Finless knows if he plans on working on an ICS upgrade for the Gingerbread models. We'll just have to wait and see if he does, and what he comes up with...

Still wandering wich rom to flash my new next7p12 sn:YF031211xxxx , capacitive screen , no hdmi port (if any rom stable enough ) . After many hours reading through forums i am a bit confused with all tests being done ...
All I want is root permission, bloatware deletion possible and google store.
