great job!. I installed it on my Tanix X4 and so far everything is working normally. Can you tell me how I can change the build of this device?. I see that even with active Root, I can't change or edit the build.
Can you do other functions that are available only with ROOT Access?
Trying to replace some files in the ROOT folder but every ROOT File Explorer is unable to edit.
Even third-party apps that need ROOT Access (Except Root Checker) don't seem to gain ROOT Privileges.
Please read my Post in this Forum and advise:
Most of the Amlogic s905x4 Android TV Boxes have a ROOT Switch in the Settings Menu, usually under Advanced Menu.
Keeping the ROOT Switch in On Position is supposed to offer ROOT Privileges.
The ROOT Checker App confirms the Device is ROOTED and BusyBox is installed.
Apps such X-Plore and ROOT Explorer can SEE the Files in the
Yes is very possible, this company's are always changing the wifi chips or a way of making it even cheaper, also there a lot of fake boxes out there.
It is not just possible, it is certainty. My Tanix X4 box from Aliexpress came with faulty software. It does not have the RTL8822 chip but a chip marked K255B-SR C01002.There are only the 2 metal antennae in mine and a ridiculously small SOC heatsink. The temp registered with minimal activity is around 72C

Ouch.. i think you really got a fake one, i do not remember they changing the chips.
I will ask my contacts on Oranth(the company that does the Tanix devices) to see if they know about that.
i really dont know, maybe 1 more week since i could not touch my build pc in 1 week because of the heat wave we had here... and i since i do not have AC and the build pc is right next to me its hot... really hot inside my apartment like 32ºc

Understandable
Extreme heat here as well
Into the 40,s with humidex factor
I am not sure about that. Comparing the picture you uploaded of part of the board of the original TANIX board looks exactly the same as the fake including layout. marking and date code. The only differences I noted was the wifi chip itself, the tape antenna and the main heatsink. Even the components around the wifi chip are laid out exactly as on mine so that chip is probably a copy of the RTL one.
Anyway learning that I got a fake box was the last straw for me so I leaned hard on AliExpress for a solution. They finally promised a full refund but I will believe that when I see it.
As for TANIX, if they really do believe it is a fake they should be taking the issue up with AliExpress. This is no good for their reputation.
More important for me, given that my wifi chip is not RTL, will I be able to use the new software you intend to issue?

Well i asked a bit more and they said, its not theirs(oranth who made mine) but it seems Tanix used another vendor to rls a more... cheaper(for their side) device...
Well my fw still should work with that one, just remember to disable BT...
So it means there several versions of this device out there... so.. its a shoot in the dark!
