I desperately need a stock or any working rom. I installed chainfire 3d and my tablet wont boot now (stuck on a screen with an image).
I tried just factory resetting but it didn't work. I could use any help. Tank you.
What step does the installation abort at? What does it say before it aborts?

      A few days ago I got a Next7P12 Serial No. 0912 Android 4.0.4 Kernel 2.6.34 amlogic@droid #65 Sat Sep 15 07:22:54 CST 2012 Build number V 1.0.5.IMM76I.eng.root.20120915

Recovery and Root worked for me. I was able to get Supersu on and used Lucky Patcher to move the Play store and Google Services Framework to the system apps and finally got it to work.

I've got a few things I can't seem to figure out though: The gmail app won't sync. Google Play services 4.0.34 won't work so I can't sign into Youtube 5.3.28. Something I did made the home button and my notifications unresponsive.

I'm using Google Services Framework 2.3.3 and Google Play Store 4.5.10.

Thanks for all your posts ShaunMT.

Sorry, I can't diagnose issues caused by changes you've made to the system.

My best advise would be to flash a stock ROM and start over.

If you don't want to wait on me to get a fixed recovery posted, it should be possible to root with cydia impactor.

When you do root, Please don't make any further changes before working with me to dump the November build date ROM!

P.S. I have TONS of great new stuff coming out REAL SOON!

I bought 5 of these from NewEgg, they all came with the May 2013 date and show as NX007HD. The firmware is seriously broken and doens't report OpenGL support correctly, and who knows what else is wrong with the firmware - which seems to be why many apps are being filtered out by Google Play. Rooting them was pretty easy, I used Bin4ry's generic script for it and it worked first shot. I was even able to make some corrections to the build.prop that got the OpenGL version to report correctly, but apps are still being filtered. Obviously sideloading any of these apps, they run just fine because there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

I've been trying to get NewEgg to send me a NX007HD8G replacements (and to their credit they have sent me several replacements) but I keep getting the NX007HD.

I don't see any real difference between these tablets from a hardware perspective. And I'm wondering if it would be safe to overwrite the firmware from the NX007HD8G onto them.

What is the overall procedure to take a recovery backup from my existing tablet and to place the Next7HD8G_SMT_Stock_Rom_081213-signed in its place? And what is the recovery procedure if that doesn't work?

On the NX007HD8G, I believe newer firmwares corrected these issues.

I don't believe that I have seen or heard of any tablets referred to as a NX007HD, rather than the NX007HD8G. I can't determine if they are the same or even similar.

What is the overall procedure to take a recovery backup from my existing tablet and to place the Next7HD8G_SMT_Stock_Rom_081213-signed in its place? And what is the recovery procedure if that doesn't work?
Assuming it is an Amlogic based model, currently, you would have to dump the ROM following these instructions: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?7768-How-To-Dump-The-Stock-ROM-from-an-Amlogic-Based-Nextbook-Tablet

Then someone (most likely myself) will have to package the files into a flashable ROM.

Please be advised that my stock ROMs include stock bootloaders. If the bootloader doesn't work on your model, it will be very difficult to fix your tablet.

It would probably be best to dump your ROM and let me take a look at it to see if I can determine what type of hardware you have.

Progress report... New NX007HD8G vs. Old NX007HD...

Hey ShaunMT - anything to report on:

              1) work on the NX007HD8G 20131010 ROM Dump I uploaded.
              2) CWM Recovery for NX007HD8G.

              Skorpion:
Older NX007HD, piece of crap. I tried to spoof the device name to get it to work in Google Play, but no luck. Manually downloading and installing the so called incompatible APK'S has worked fine i.e. TuneIn. I was wondering if the botched Open GL version reporting on the NX007HD may have been the problem, but apparently not.

Newer NX007HD8G, works fine in Google Play. Open GL version reporting fixed. My ROM Dump is posted in this thread.

The NX007HD8G has a different hardware MFG of the accelerometer than the NX007HD. This could very well cause a problem if loading the new ROM on an older NX007HD. There may be other hardware differences as well, I'm not sure, but would not be surprised. Nextbook does an awful job on documenting changes, both hardware and software versions.

Anybody else notice the CPU is actually running at 1.2GHz, not the advertised 1.5GHz?

The problem with OpenGL version on the NX007HD was due to a missing line in the build.prop file - but no difference with Google Play. I've tried cross-referencing the build.prop between the two tablets to see if anything else obvious was missing but it has proven difficult. If you could give me a dump of Android System Info it might be helpful in determining if there are any other missing feature lines in the build.prop file.

If there's a different component on board it would make flashing the ROM a bad idea, but I'm considering patching in the shared objects for the Mali-400 because they are slightly different file sizes - hoping it's a driver issue.

Nextbook as a company is basically garbage, they deny the existence of the NX007HD, try to say they are the same tablet, and give a lame excuse that the tablet is "not compatible with all software available on google play" - even though it comes pre-installed with google chrome and can't download an updated version of it, they seem to think that's just fine. At one point, hey grudgingly said they would send a support request to Yifang but didn't actually do anything, don't call back, etc. It's a real shame because the tablet works very well once you sideload the games onto it. At this point, NewEgg is trying to get them to fix it, but if they can't more than likely I'll just get my money back and move on.

Agree on the documentation, but hadn't noticed the discrepancy on the CPU frequency.

Hey Skorpion... Some build info for download...

I uninstalled the system app chrome with titanium backup and was then able to install the newer chrome.

Ok. Still a long time to be made available?

Not sure. What exactly are looking for? Have you rooted your tablet yet?

I'm currently working on Cyanogenmod 10 for Nextbook, which I plan to release for multiple Nextbook models. Development for the Next7D12 is a little more difficult because I don't own that model.
