Fantastic Job on the rom Bob!

Earlier I have used Riley rom, that was good (maximum respect to Riley).
Yet I have another world, all smoother, wifi connect perfect,GPS faster( why?) battery drain small.
So just popped, to want to say Thanks!

It is necessary to insist in the corner. With a movement of the finger, the bar come back!

You can use the following lines in build.prop
          * for split top-notification bar: set ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI=false
          * for bottom-notification bar: set ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI=true
          * reboot after changing the value.

With the value "true" you will have only the bottom-notification bar (like 4.0 and 4.1 - no top notification bar) and no more hiddable bar (Swiftkey normal as before).
You can try. If you want revert, change the value to "false" https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...p.editor&hl=fr)

            build.prop optional change question

It's been a while since I did a ROM for a tablet. Been working on all the TV sticks. But I got this tablet recently and decided to have a go at a ROM. Thanks top Randy for getting me up to speed on Pipo things

Anyway here is my first ROM for the Pipo M9 Pro. It was made using the latest M9 Pro ROM from Pipo.

            __________________________________

Features and release notes for my 1.4 ROM:

            1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

            2) 4 parameter files available to repartition NAND space (see below instructions).

            3) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

            4) All google required APPs updated to the latest version as of this ROM build.
This includes the play store and other required Google CORE and APPs.
Stock ROM had a very old Play Store and GMS Core.
Nothing worse that blogging up your brand new ROM with required Google updates!

            5) I modified the stock launcher. This M9 Pro has a high def screen. Why not use more space.
I made the APP Drawer 8 icons wide instead of 7. This also gives more columns to the desktop.
I also PROPERLY removed the search bar on the desktop by editing the launcher.
This is the correct way to do it rather then deleting the APK which can cause stability problems.

            6) Replaced the stupid provision service on first boot trying to install Pipo junk apps.

            7) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a Pipo!
            Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
            Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Pipo.

            8) I give you a choice of boot.img's.
One for wifi only and one to support 3G. This should help performance for those that have only Wifi.
The Wifi boot.img is setup as the default in the flash tool!
If you have 3G you must use the boot3g.img. See below for instructions on changing that.

            9) Of course as always I debloated the ROM of Apps!
Starting with a clean ROM is important depending on what you want to use your M9 for.
Why have APPs burning resources if you never use them?
I also found some hidden APPs and removed those.
I also removed all the other junk launchers

            10) I did some wifi tuning. Power is increased and for me this makes wifi work better!
However, it may cause slightly more battery drain but I have not noticed it.
If you want to edit it back, I can tell you how using ES File Explorer.

            11) Other system tuning, file system tuning, etc I do to all my ROMs.

            12) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).
Use this to easily get into flash mode to change boot.img's or later kernels!

Hi All, I got a reply from SuperSport900 on how to disable the RK Multi Window.
            ro.rk.multi_window=false
Now I do not see this entry at all in the build.prop file.
Do I just add it - add a line?
Be great If I hear from either or.. SS900, Finless and RRileyPM
            Thanks,
I just want to measure three times and cut once! (per RRPM)

That line is in my build.prop. Last line in the file.

              Bob
"Pzebacz im, bo nie wiedzą, co czynią"
"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

                Excellent Rom Upgrade

Wow, I flashed my new Pipo M9 Pro with Finless 1.4 Rom and I must say it's much better than Pipo's release's. Everything works much better, Powering on issue's, gone, slow wireless connect, gone and stronger reception. Antutu benches @ 18680 compared to 16640 on stock rom. Hiding taskbar buttons is awesome, google search tab on home panel gone! too. I haven't had any freezes or bugs, and it's been 3 days now.
I highly recommend this Rom if your technically capable of working with Android Tablets.
This rom is great, however I do still have arthritis in my right shoulder and my dog still has fleas but hell, it's a Rom.
                Thanks Bob!

                  ROM vs ROM

For whatever it's worth, and due props to all involved, but I'll stick with the RileyROM thankyouverymuch. If folks like to reflash their own devices to change the timings and power levels of chips that's fine with me, but doing so by default assuming we know better than the manufacturer and assuming the power levels were set lower only to save power, without access to the full hardware picture or knowledge about why the decision was taken? No thanks, as for me I'll live with the spotty WiFi connections and stock hardware power decisions until Pipo fix the issue themselves. Maybe they know something we don't about tolerances or shielding and I'm not willing to risk damaging my tablet.

I'm not really after anything more than advice on how to do after-market tweaks and ways to alter the manufacturers' decisions about how the UI should act, for a base ROM I simply want a clean blank slate, as it were, and can "pimp my ride" from there.

                  (just $0.02)

thanks, tinkering makes us better as a people

maybe I am going blind but I still don't see the ro.rk.multi_window=true line (@ the end or at all)

You should ADD that line yourself to your build.prop file (at the end of the file is a good pick). If Finless had added it to the build.prop file supplied with the ROM, the people that want to use multi-window would have trouble. Lots of people don't want it enabled, but don't have to do anything to avoid it displaying by itself.

This does move all of the menu and notification to the bottom. Which is different from the prior M9 firmware. But this totally works for me. Having that bar cover part of the Swiftkey keypad was a royal pain.

                        Thanks again..

within an hour a writing this I found myself in a far off room and having to pull out my laptop because the pipo's wifi couldn't reach that far. none the less...

Sorry for the confusion. The line I added to turn on multi-user is
                                fw.max_users=4

Remove that line and multi-user will be removed.
