EDIT: Should clarify I'm running off wireless, however I ran the speedtest app and I'm getting good ping and 30Mbps down and up.

How are you getting 30Mbps on wireless? Please share your setup. Is your router in same room right next to Android stick?

I have an Asus RT-AC66 Router only getting 3-7Mbps up/down.

Screeb Flashing after installing ROM

Hi,

I have installed the ROM previously on a MK908ii successfully and have gone to do it again on a different device. I flashed the ROM and the screen is constantly flickering between blank screen and the screen as I would expect to see it. I tried flashing the ROM again the same issue I happening.

Anyone else had his issue?

Boot and kernel 1080p
The same here, isn't usable. I receive my MK908 II today.

EDIT1:
Settings->Screen->HDMI Mode = 720p solve the problem but the text look ugly.

EDIT2:
Installed the boot and kernel 720p. If select 1080p it flicker, need to stay with 720p.

I have 3 MK908 II, and 2 of them at 1080p it flicker. The other one is working fine at 1080p.

Any idea?

Check your HDMI cable or connection. Those mini-HDMI cabled from China can be bad! I have 3 of those that give flicker or dots and lines.

If I put ap6210_kitkat_finless20_beta2, everything is ok at 1080p (no flicker or dots and lines), is not problem of cables or connectors. If a put Finless1.5a the problem appear, it happens 2 of 3 of mk908II and the other one is perfect at HDMI output of 1080p.

Now we are 3 people with the same problem.

Thus 1080p flicker problem is happening on mk908ii and cx919 devices, not sure about others, but iirc i also had a similar problem with my mk908v3 stick as well in the beginning. I also think it is a kernel related problem, but not mali related but hdmi driver which i think is a seperate chip from soc. However, as with all china stuff they seem to have varrying build quality and so one chip can handle higher voltages than the other, so i am not sure if anyone can do something about this without having a faulty device, a kernel build environment and a heap of time for testing different build configurations.

Viral - Play in backround issue

Hi all,
I'm trying to get Viral (youtube alternative) to play music in backround but have no sound in my ΜΚ908ii. Anyone confirm this issue?

I need help with flashing.. I followed the instructions when i flashed from the stock rom which was perfect but now when i try to flash, the flash tool wont recognize the device "No found Rkandroid rock usb". I have tried usb mode and all of that, I manually put into flash mode with a pin but still nothing! The Rkbatch tool doesn't show anything either. Afaik the drivers must already be installed because i already flashed one of bobs roms over the stock rom!

UPDATE 12-07-2013.
ROM updated to 1.5a

1.5a updates:
I put back the stock rom SystemUI.apk (Status Bar) with the blue icons.
The one I used in 1.5 would crash on some operations.
For instance connecting to a PC and turning on USB would crash the status bar.

I included the vsync patched kernels to fix the frame micro skipping issue.
The 720P vsync patched kernel is now the default set in my flash tool.

NOTE: You do NOT have to erase and flash the entire ROM to get these fixes.
If you already have 1.5 installed just run the 1.5a flash tool and uncheck everything except kernel.img and system.img
Flash this and you will keep all your data.

The MK908ii seems to be the little child. Not a lot of ROM Devs working on this.
Well we all know a new ROM came out so I decided to make a Finless ROM from this new MK908ii ROM.
This is not like my last ROM which used a totally different ROM and I ported it. This update by Tronsmart seemed pretty good so I used it this time. You all can decide if you like it better.

Features and release notes for my 1.5a ROM:

0) Sorry I hated the new launcher provided with this ROM. It sucks in my opinion!
So I put back the AOSP Android launcher.

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. Rockchip sources now have this fix in!
They We at Freaktab learned this fix from Chistian Tory. Then FreakTab dev's passed it on to Minix, then this got to Rockchip!
Amazing! All RockChip ROMs have had this GameLoft issue for 3 years. Now because of us Android lovers, RockChip finally fixed this!
I am proud as I am sure all FreakTab Dev's are, to have helped Android progress even from Chip makers like RockChip!
Eventually they do listen to us users
With that said.... ROCKCHIP! REALEASE SOURCES!
If your going to use the communities developers to help you, THEN HELP US! Do the right thing!
Sorry folks... Rant over...


8) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device nopt a MK908 or RKSDK! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a 908ii.
WARNING if you do this, you need to be using the 1080 kernel or your screen will be oversized!

9) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

10) 1080P Kernel if you want it! Tronsmart released a 1080 kernel but faked it back to 720.
I have unpacked it from boot and made it a choice in this ROM package.

11) I also supply Vsync patched kernels to fix the micro frame skipping.
The kernel720_vsync.img is the default selection in the flash tool.

I managed to brick my MK908ii trying to amend a core apk and can't get it back into recovery mode. There's a hole in the box like in the MK808 (on the side though) but no recovery button to press. Turns out on opening the case that I was just gouging away at the heatsink with a pin... Any ideas how to get it back into recovery so I can reflash?

I've got the T processor and was having similar screen blanking out and jerking issues at 1080 but fine at 720.
