What is best Market fix for now for 701i

I've owned a 701i for about two weeks now and have been following these posts to figure out the best way to add Google Market. I had originally used some procedures I found on a site called "The Digital Reader" (which basically had all the .apks needed [5 apks total] and then required installing one at a time), but once I did that, I lost functionality of the home key and the tablet became quite sluggish. Had to do a factory reset to clear everything out.

My question now is, what is the *best* way to install Google Market on the 701i? I have read several methods here, and then others say 'here's another way to do it....', etc. As of this posting, can someone tell me definitely which set of procedures to follow for the 701i (with TV out), that will install Google Market with the least amount of problems?

          Thanks!

As always there will be multiple ways to do things. If you want a "Full Market" use ghostfayce method once available or you can try my method totally up to you.

The method you used before will get you market at expense of missing apps.

Uncertain ask one of the vets, I just make the progs... LOL

Even with the "stock" firmware that is posted here, only one hardware key works (the home key) - the menu and back key dont work (I never used them anyway)...

Download the file in post #46 and follow the directions in the readme. I used the other methods you mentioned prior to this and ended up resetting back to stock and did this instead. No regrets. It's the best way I have found. I have the same model with tv out.

I didn't flash the stock rom here. I just did the market fix. All my buttons work.

Okay, thanks. Certainly makes sense that there are different methods, but just don't know enough about all of this to sort through the pros and cons. The method I used before seemed to affect my tablet in ways that weren't good, so I don't want to go back to that. Will either try yours or ghostfayce--is the latter supposed to do something that yours doesn't? And as far as you know, does yours have any limitations?

Really appreciate the help. The people on this forum are quite impressive!!

Thanks, Corki2 (and all). I'll try the method on post #46 later tonight and will hope I can do it and that it works!

Looks like it fixed the weird glitching/redraw issue with Market/Play for me. No more flashing, frames, and frantically trying to guess or catch the "accept and download" button.

Google play store seems to work more smoothly for me.

As for Netflix, I'm still having issues with freezing. However, I'm starting to wonder now if this isn't a Netflix issue I'm battling. Some videos and episodes play fine in their entirety. For instance I successfully streamed 2 or 3 episodes of South Park tonight while doing some work on my pc. No issues what so ever. However 3 Family Guy episodes I tried watching all froze (different seasons). (What can I say...I like high brow and sophisticated entertainment ) ALL of froze within about 10 minutes. Weird!

(If anyone has a little spare time try streaming Family Guy Season 8 Episode 19 "The Splendid Source" via Netflix and see if it plays through. Mine freezes about 5 to 5 and a half minutes in every time. I'd like to know if it is just freezing on our tablets in general or just mine for some reason.

I believe artist said he made it through a bunch of the first episodes of Lost...so I'm letting one of those stream right now just to see if it's a netflix issue on specific videos.

One more issue I just noticed tonight. When I search with Netflix using this setup and the latest netflix app it's a little hard to see the entire window that comes up when you open a choice in search results. Say for instance I search "The Walking Dead". I tap on "The Walking Dead (2010) in the search results and it opens a new window where I can only see the first 2 or 3 episodes. Scrolling through the lists of episodes that way to find anything is a nightmare. The screen doesn't like to respond for me. It scrolls a little slow and lags a lot. When I got the bright idea to rotate the tablet into a vertical portrait mode to view the list easier the whole window redraws and is gone and out of view.

Also browsing, searching and swiping through things on Netflix just seems more sluggish than I remember it. Not sure whether that's your fix or Netflix. It's been so long since I've been able to use Netflix correctly I forget what is normal!

Not being a negative nancy...just telling you what I've observed. I don't even know whether it's an issue with my hardware, the market fix, or Netflix.

I'm running your newest fix on a 701C running Shawn's ICS for 701C rom.

Ah, one quick question: to use the method on post #46, am I to download the zip file and unzip it on my PC, then copy the files to the tablet and run all from the *tablet*, or do I just unzip on my PC and point the tablet there and follow the readme instructions by clicking on files on the PC? Haven't tried it yet but read the readme file and wasn't sure if I would be transferring all files to the tablet or working back and forth from tablet to PC. Apologies that that is probably a very basic question, but I haven't worked with tablets much and so am not completely sure what I'm doing here.

                          Thanks for continued help!

You unzip and do everything from the PC except the prelim stuff (change sleep delay, debugging, etc). Once you hit the runme.bat a dos window will appear on your PC. You will see it start writing to your tablet. Follow the prompts in the window as they come up .

Anyone else having problems with random reboots, sleeping etc with this script.

So I've installed the latest market fix script after installing Shawn's 701C_ICS rom. I've been having issues with the tablet just randomly rebooting/sleeping for no reason. I have the settings set for the tablet to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity, but I think that is just for when the display times out anyway right?

It will often just randomly go black, then the Ice Cream Sandwhich droid will appear and I'll have to swipe to unlock. It doesn't look like it's fully powering down..because it doesn't take as long as a normal boot up does. I'm not sure why it's doing this because it definitely shouldn't be sleeping.

I'm not sure whether this is the ICS Rom, Market fix or what is doing it. I've been noticing it since I flashed android 4.0 and installed the first market fix script. I'm mainly just curious if anyone else has this going on?

Yes FYI that is a kernel reboot and not a full reboot. When it does this you should actually do a full reboot as things may not be all loaded correctly as it does not process init.rc fully when it does this.

Usually when I see this happen on my Arnova it's a app that is causing it and not the ROM.
