Playing media from local 2TB WD HD

If you are going to use a NFS/SMB path to access your media files, then you will have to use the JustXBMC default media player ONLY ...
Hi Tech 1, custom codecs have been installed, default XBMC uninstalled with justXBMC.apk installed. I'm playing media from local external HD connected to USB on CR11S. Problem persists when attempting to play via MXplayer. Is the MXplayer support not designed to work with local external USB HD?

Did you connect it via the Explore SATA Settings or Network Places ...?

Do you mean how did I connect the USB? I connected directly to CR11S USB port. Within XBMC I set up a file location by browsing root file system/mnt/usb_storage/USB_DISK0/Movies. Is this what you mean?

I tested setting up a UPnP connection with my PC and the external(MXplayer) worked.

To confirm, is there anyway I can get MXplayer to work with locally connected USB?

There is this solution that works with an older version of XBMC which I think resansid was referring to in an earlier post - http://makesmarttv.net/external-play...mpromise/#8230

This works, but the xbmc version is not as stable as justxbmc.apk

I tried using the playercorefactory.xml with post#1 version of justxbmc.apk. When I click and hold on movie title to bring up 'Play using...' it brings up a long list of media players, the default being MXPlayerFree. I tested MoboPlayer and MXplayerFree, neither worked. DVDPlayer(XBMC Player) did work.

Again, this did work on XBMC version from makesmarttv.net forum.

On an unrelated note, if anyone is having difficulty bringing up the 'Play Using' option and they are using the standard CR11S remote, it is probably the remote which is the issue - it seems the remote can't perform a hold-click function. You may need an alternative input device like a mouse.

The playercorefactory.xml with the long list of players, MX Player will not work with that particular playercorefactory.xml file .... I also did the very same test you are doing ...! If you use a UPNP/DLNA path, the MX Player might work ...!

How would I do that? Would I set up a new network location with UPnP server protocol and server address something like - upnp://mnt/usb_storage/USB_DISK0/udisk0/Movies

I tried this and failed, haha, I get the message 'Unable to connect... could not retrieve directory information...'

Do I need to point to the device first in my path or am I not understanding your suggestion?

Hi Tech1, After much tinkering and trying various roms I found that only dts passthrough is working. AC3 or DD5.1 is not working. either playing something with dd 5.1 local file or xbmc same issue. It took me a few tries to realize that it is only aC3 format i am having problem with. I have decided to settle with your latest cloudnetgo modified patched rom. There might be two reasons for this and one is that patched libmedia has something with ac3 format that my box doesnt like. Who can help me with the libmedia file that may look into this issue? Other than this issue and the player selection the ROM is pretty good.

                        @tech1,

is it possible to set justxbmc to play by mxplayer by default ?. I know long click on the file name brings option to play via different player, but i would like to set by default to mxplayer.

I tried the xda rom CS968 Exclusive MODDED ROM EQS-v2.0M 1080p, looks good, hv u checked the xposed framewrk and gravitybox and app window module ?. Its not wrking for me. Does it wrk for you.
How abt these modules working on ur patched rom ? have u tried ?

I have no problems playing movies via HDMI AC3, DTS, 5.1/7.1 digital audio ...! Remember using "JustXBMC" requires optical SPDIF pass through to be activated in the audio Settings area or else it will not work ...

Maybe you can make the MX player the default player by making changing in the "playfactorycore.xml file ... Concerning the XDA EQS-v2.0M 1080p custom ROM build, it was ok, but I went back to the Cloudnetgo official 20131205 2MP 1080p ROM build ...

                                Tech1,

First of all, thanks for your contributions. After, about a bazillion installs of various favors of xbmc, xbmcv4 was able to call up MX player. However, on my CR11S 5M box, I still cannot get my bluray iso's on my smb shares to play in XBMC. Can you please point me in the right direction? You caught my attention on your last post about the CR11S...I have the 5 Dec ROM as well, but no luck so far...

                                Many thanks in advance,

                                Can
