The company where I work, specializes in android OTA update, I want take this to get checked by developer.
but my wife likes to watch her stupid shows on this and does not allow me to take it or a few days. this is so frustrating...

    come on guys,
how can I turn IMG -> compliant ZIP??
    any solutions to this??
It is true that it's hard to find out which usb is otg on b4k. Anyway, as soon as you see on measy screen "connected in usb debugging mode" phoenix should recognize it. Otherwise something is wrong with drivers. Try to fix them via control panel add/remove programs. By the way, try running phoenix as admin.

      I tried both usb ports.
I also tried this with linux but pc does not show that any device is connected.
      With drivers or not.
I dont get "connected in usb debugging mode" message at any stage.

yes. tried with power and without.
maybe this not working because i use usb3 cable male2male? or maybe it just not supposed to work this way.

I'm waiting for someone to post update.zip for this.

The otg should be supported by any android device past 4.1, otherwise why the usb debugging is for. I guess it's a cable problem. It should be otg type not a regular usb to usb. You could try a small microUSB to USB adapter connected to any android phone/tablet otg cable.

Measy U4K and B4K upgrade to 4.2.2 with CS918S firmware

My experience with Rockchip devices is that I have to use a USB 2 port on my laptop to communicate with tablets/ mini sticks. Usb3 simply does nothing.

Having said that I'm hoping that someone can work out how to create an update zip

guys i'm actually having the same problem.
i also have the measy B4K android box (not stick) it only has the normal USB ports, and not usb micro ports which one would expect, i also hooked up a male to male usb cable but windows never detects it. Also i never get a message when i turn usb debugging on that usb debugging is running, i think my phone does this but this player does not maybe the normal sized usb ports on the box do work but usb debugging somehow broken ?

I tried opening the case, but i only bought it yesterday and can't seem to find where the screws are place (if there are any) and don't want to brake the casing. Anyone else already openend it ? I just wanna check if they perhaps did not expose this in the casing.

I also tried phoenixcard with the supplied IMG file as was suggested but phoenixcard (3.06) does not accept the provided IMG file

any ideas cause this default firmware really is crappy on this device

PS. i also tried booting the device without a power cable and i noticed the player boots the first splash screen but then stays on a black screen .. don't know if that's normal.

Also is there some trick to enter recovery somehow on these boxes ?

                    Updated firmware & recovery

I managed to get some new info from measy support via help of a Chinese friend.
I've obtained different img file, which should be compatible with B4K:

Above file includes firmware & flashing software.
They said to press the reset button (you will need a pin for this) before flashing.

I still not able to make my pc detect the device so i couldn't use this.
However, the phoenix card method looks promising.
Unfortunately, i don't have card reader on me at the moment to test it.

joyrider, can you try using this img file with the and update if you were successful?

Also, to get to recovery mode, i downloaded some 'shutdown app' from play store, since there's no obvious way to shut down this device. But the enter button does not work, so it's useless.

Looking forward to hear you feedback.

                      Hi tzvika1

thanks for that firmware, i have spend the whole evening trying things out but without any luck. The firmware tool inside that package is missing a .key file though in order to continue but i managed to find such file.

i also managed to get into recovery but could not move the menu items either :/ (could not go up nor down) i attached joypad, usb keyboard, tried every button on the remove both in mouse / non mouse mode. where you able to browse the menu ?

where is the reset button actually ? i have on the left side (when hdmi is on the back) of the device a small button the text "RECO" i guess its either from recording or from recovery. I used a paper clip and could feel there was a clickable button inside but nomatter what i tried that button does absolutly nothing with me. I tried booting while holding that button in (does not work device does not boot then), i tried pressing it in al sort of places to no avail.

Normally in recovery when you see the android person with red "!" it means ure on stock firmware and normally you should press volume up + power to access the menu or something (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...35&postcount=6)

i also don't know if my male to male usb cable is any good but i'll be getting one at work tommorow. Do you know of any one that was able to flash that firmware in some sort of way.

at least a i have a firmware specific for the b4k now, the phoenix card thingie did not work either with this img file it's normally for a10 devices

Guys, I'm telling you once again, you need an OTG cable in order to enable usb debugging mode. Just google for otg pin outs. Or get an otg from your phone or tablet with microusb and add an adapter microusb female-usb male. End of story.

                          hey tzvika,

i found a phoenixcard version that supports the b4k firmware format. I could succesfully let the tool burn it to a micro sd card. The tool is here : http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...&uk=1812122577

I found the link in a thread dealing with the MELE M9 which also uses the allwinner a31 soc.
This phoenix card version is 3.09 and accepts the img files the other versions i found were version 3.06 and did not accept the img files.

However even though i was able to let it burn it didn't do anything when i used it on my b4k. However i know from other devices that they can sometime be very picky about the sd card you used (although i'm not certain if it applies to this) To give an example i have 2x 8gig sandisk micro sd card and 1x 4 gig micro sd card the phoenix card program did not work with my 8 gig cards they did with my 4 gig card.

I did not try the img from that other device though but i'm not giving up yet trying to find a smaller sd card and will possibly try also the original img posted here for that other device after looking up a few things.

I don't know if this should work but at least we know that phoenix card version does work with that img file.

i'll be buying a few cables and stuff but in the mean time i keep messing around

maybe you have more luck with another type of card. If i make progress using phoenix card i'll let you know

                          update:
i think the firmware is not burned correctly, it starts good but fails gets messed up at a certain point don't know why, happens with the firmware ADD posted also. but at least this version of phoenixcard will update itselve once there is an update

                            Hey all,
Just wanted to post that i followed joyrider steps with 32gb card with same results.
According to application log img burned to card successfully, but no flash happens.
It takes a month for the cables i ordered to arrive from china.
The cables/adapters we need for this are not common and dificult to find.
I hope someone will come up with a way to do this soon...

                              Hello.

After the upgrade, my Wifi disappeared.
                              I own a U4K unit.
                              Any suggestions?

                              Regards.
