So, there is some nuance to LAN connection with this devices.

This is a link http://yadi.sk/d/11oFjajuEtSH7 to modifying stock firmware by me. I added root, reboot application, twick build.prop and made v-sync fix to kernel. If you need root, you can try it.

For working Play Store you must synchnonize time. Set in time settings autosynchronize option, check your timezone, because time is resetting after everytime restarting device.

Hi I have the same issues and cannot connect via LAN cable through a switch or powerline adaptors. It connects and has a valid IP if I plug direct into the router. I have tried multiple routers and cables but still the same.

I have reflashed firmware but still no joy. Can we confirm if this is K-R42 CS918 as my device has bluetooth I presumed its the T-R42.

If on stock firmware bluetooth work - then only you have Box with bluetooth. Yestoday sale a lot of version of devices in the same box. Its product different manufactures and named diferent K-R42/T-R42, CS918/CS918BT, MK888/MK888b and etc. What kind of device you have may be check by stock firmware version and by label on the PCB board.

Because your device has the same issues, can make conclusion that board is rk3188_box_szy_x6. This is not T-R42, but is box with bluetooth. Differences with T-R42 are in LAN (may be same LAN chip, but different pin connection) and remote control. Firmware 1.2.3 by Wasser for T-R42 loaded, wprk Wifi/Bluetooth, but not work LAN and remote. All worked only on stock firmware, but LAN has this strange behavor - worked only with direct connection with router, with switch not worked no way! I checked with 2 different switches and with direct/cross cables.

So what firmware can you recomend or just stick with the stock firmware ? I tried the t-r42 firmware but like u said remote does not work properly. If I brought a new remote would that make any difference?

If you brought the same remote control as is in T-R42 - it will be work properly, i check it. But can change key value in special file, the will be work and this remote control (please, find self how do this, i didn't this).

This is only one fully worked firmware for this box - the stock (link I got early). But, i think, if you do need in LAN connecion, you can use and T-R42 firmware.

Do you have working ethernet in T-R42 firmware? In my box ethernet do not work in T-R42 wasser 1.2.3 firmware.

I have tried T-R42-2-0-Board-Firmware-by-lewy20041 but still could not get IP via LAN through powerline adaptor. The remote funtion was not working correctly and boot time was really poor and system did not look stable.

I also have this device see here - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...041#post128041

I contacted the supplier and they sent me a link to the latest firmware https://mega.co.nz/#!5F1CnY4b!NGvbhi...TnwlvxxpZnOVQk

                  I haven't tried it yet
(The build number on my device says the same date 20131120 so presume Its the same firmware as I already have)

I have the same issues with LAN not working and power button only puts it to sleep. I also find the device gets very hot, so strange that there's no heatsink
                  (But my remote does work)

The supplier also gave me the link to update firmware.

I am now having issues with HDMI output on 1080p as it keeps flickering and only stable on 720p.

Also when I install VPN software it does not connect to specified proxy server and hangs.

LAN still does not work think its made it worse.

Hopefully we will get a firmware that fixes all the issues

Have you thought of using a OTG to Lan adaptor? I used one on another stick which worked well 24/7.
I cant use it on this device as I use the OTG port for power..

This is the same firmware how in link I gave, I made my custom firmware on base of this version. In my firmware I fix v-sync problem in kernel.

Remote control not worked in other T-R42 firmwares, because this box modification has other remote type. In stock firmware it work well.

This is the most badly box modification, because no normal working firmware and LAN not working. All cables came with box are very bad quality. CPU hasn't heatsink. Saller got 5-10$ more profit on this boxes.

I have contacted the supplier to make them aware of the problems. For me the lack of a heat sink is a major flaw as we use it as our main TV source so It's on for hours.

If I were to get another box which one do people recommend? (I'd even think of a completely different box like the Minix Neo X7??)

My concern is you have to purchase the box and open it up to find which version you have.

Do you have a link on your custom firmware does this fix my VPN issues and also 1080p

Not to worried about the LAN as I have figured a way to improve my wifi - I need to look into purchasing a wifi remote and keyboard if I was to move onto Wasser FW

I'd also be interested in the link, but would like the LAN to work

                                I also got the rk3188_box_szy_x6.

I tried several custom firmwares, but without success.

Now i think i have stock again. soundcloud app doesnt work properly... also i have problems with xbmc.

So is there a working firmware finally? A version of lewy´s maybe?
