Did you update voice search fromt he play store? You have to do that as the built in one has bugs and the new one cannot be a system APP so I could not include the updated one in the ROM.

My ethernet dongle works fine. What do you have?

I saw there are 8192cu.ko and 8188eu.ko in modules. Is that means we can use external wifi dongles based on that chipsets?
What do we need to make them work?
Do we have to insmod them manually?

Almost all JB ROMs have these drivers in lib/modules regardless if they are also compiled into the kernel. These are the standard provided drivers from RK SDK.
If you try and insmod them and get an error it means they are already in the kernel.

Thanks Bob for the great ROM! Things seem to be working fine for me. One thing I did notice - when I try to "reboot into recovery" with the reboot app I get a picture of a dead android with an exclamation point popping out of his chest. I get the same thing if I reboot to recovery with ROM Toolbox so I don't think ii is the app. It comes back up to normal if I then reboot with the power plug.

Is recovery something supplied as part of a ROM or should I look elsewhere to get it straightened out? I am guessing that I don't have a recovery installed, but I am new to the android environment and don't yet have grasp on how all of the components map together.

I was able to fix my defective recovery by installing clockworkmod from here:

YOur recovery was not defective! It was just the stock recovery which cannot do anything like CWM. Rebooting to the stock recovery will always give the dead Android man. It was not made to do that kind of function.

But glad you got CWM and can do what you want. Just realize this. You will never be able to use the stock update.img from SDcard now. Thats the big difference.

Thanx Bob...Ididn't think of that.
The ethernet dongle.....have to get back 2ya on that one....**** bubble wrap special brand. Mini usb to ethernet , i bought it for my mk808. Just using a mini to micro patch cable for the MX1 OTG port....It worked O.K. with all other Rom's.
Anyhoo....The issue of my MX1 only being stable with Alexs' kernel Shytes me to tears. I'm sure you've heard it all before so I'll sing to my cat.

AHA! This is the clue! For your hardware they have not programmed a MAC or BT address! You for sure do not have a original or new ones are coming unprogrammed. So somehow clones or non-programmed chips are coming out now.

This is a rockchip thing.
There is a Rockchip tool to program the eeprom in the chipset to fix this:

BUT... now that I know this, I think I can solve it in the ROM. But before I do please someone with this issue try the tool.

What about gps? I have tried to connect GPS module via pl2303 usb-serial, and it did not work. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

Well not sure what to tell you but no one else including me is having this issue.

What is this device exactly?

Also take the kernel.img from my 1.5 ROM and see if it resolves the issue. In this new ROM I am using the latest kernel so maybe somehting there.

And bakerbarber, which Rom you are using 1.7a or b, since I plan to use the ethernet adapter, so is it possible that one rom is working while the other one doesn't? Did you try both of them?

I didn't try both. Bob recommended A and I have the MX1 so I ran with it. I did use the tool that loads the ROM to wipe it first. I rebooted a few times before trying ethernet. Worked first time and every time. However, some apps won't run on ethernet due to "run on wifi only" options and such.

Sometimes I switch back and forth from wifi to ethernet depending on what I'm doing.
