look...I posted some kernels on this thread...I pulled them out of stock roms...
but you should know that there is not exist custom rom for our device...
I tried several different roms and this is the answer ... the stock is so far the best rom for MK 918 .. all others are missing something ... or do not work with the AP6210 or ...
And you try if you do not believe ... but be careful not to burn the device ...
          Good luck ...

Thanks for the link chris. Based on the pics, I have the real MK918 with a heatsink. I don't see any damage or burnt smell on the board or chip. Maybe the power adapter gave or it short circuited the box. If have time, I will check it with a voltage tester or try it with another power adapter.

I took your advice on getting the Minix X7. I found a seller on kijiji and bought a Minix X7 mini for $119 /w an airmouse. I say it's a solid box compared to MK918. I like the android stock launcher which you can customize with launchers from the google playstore(Apex, next 3d, go launcher hd, etc..)

Tv box problems out of the box

                Hello everyone,

I have ordered an android tv box from a seller in **** and i have some problems with it. When turning it on and after finishing the wizard i got strange problems. Firstly, the image in general becomes choppy and get random black spots when i move the mouse cursor. The animations when entering a program or settings are also very laggy(even if in developer options is eveything is 1x). In beyondXBMC which came preinstalled i do not get any black spots or lag. I checked everything in settings, from hdmi resolution to tv mode as well as in developer options but the black spots and choppy parts in the screen still exist. I tried using another hdmi cable which had no different result. Moreover the remote that came with the box stutters a lot and i cannot keep it pressed and have to press it time after time. I also tried changing a launcher but no result. In About section it says: Model Number: Android TV, android version:4.2.2, Kernel Version:3.0.36+ sz_V_104j2#14 and in Vendor software: 205j2. I opened the case to discover a blue PCB board exactly like the pictures the rest of you posted. Please let me know if anyone of you had any of these problems and what can be done to solve them. Also, please let me know which rom my box is using and if using an official latest one will improve the situation.
Thank you for your time. If you need any other information please let me know

This sounds like the latest stock ROM, http://www.bee-link.com/en/article.php?id=110 "update_mk918_205j2104_overseas_0317"

I am running the 203 version, and I installed beyondXBMC 3.4 myself. I understand that some version of beyondXBMC comes with the 205 ROM, but who knows what they have done! My box is very stable now but when I got the box originally, it didnt boot past the "ANDROID" screen. You might find that re-flashing with the latest 205j ROM is worth trying. If you still have problems, then maybe you should get a replacement?

You could also try the older 203 or 204 versions. Most people seem to have a reliable experience once they are using BeyondXBMC. Mine has been running well on the 203 ROM for several months now. It gets daily use with local video files and also streaming video. No crashes or issues for ages. Other users in this thread are on the 204 or 205 ROMs with no issues...

                    Finding the remotes button names

Hey guys, I wanna change what my remote buttons do on xbmc, but in order to change the keymap I need to check whats the buttons do (What keyboard button and modifiers they simulate).

Ive seen how its done in linux here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?ti...and_Remap_Keys.

but I cant figure out how to do it on android.
Does anyone know how to do or have done this before?
                    Thank you very much!

More info: I want to fix the following problem:
When I'm in PseudoTV, the moment it focuses on a show I cant switch channels - Pressing up and down moves 10 mins forwards or backwards, and pressing the OK button opens the pauses/play menu, instead of the channel screen.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Its killing me

                    Thank you!

                      Jesses...

hey guys... something strange out there with my MK918.

I have really slow LAN speeds (1GBit/s link!) - 800 - 1000 kb/s max!. Disconnected integrated LAN, plugged my USB-Lan Adapter, rebooted - up to 10MB/s.

Whats wrong with the integrated LAN module? Running stock ROM 205j till now (waiting for a specialised custom Rom by some rly kind guy from here.. ).. Is this normal, or do i have a hardware failure?

                      Kind regards

                      Snuffy

That is ok: our device has some cheap 10mbit/s onboard ethernet module. And 150 mbit wi-fi

I seem to remember someone reporting that the inbuilt ethernet port is connected via a USB1.1 adaptor inside... does that add up to your speed?

                            Hey guys,

                            thanks for your hints

Regarding to this: http://www.hardwaregrundlagen.de/oben07-003.htm (ye... it's a german page, but the data becomes pretty clear i think ) and regarding to some easy calculations both seems quite right...

                            12Mbit/s / 8 = 1,5MB/s (uncared the 1000 / 1024 issue).
                            10MBit/s / 8 = 1,25MB/s (also uncared the 1000 / 1024 issue).

Both explanations seems possible and i'm quite sure both are right (why fit a faster LAN Port on a 1.1 USB - there would be any benefits...)
                            Kind regards Snuffy

                              New problem:

I just restarted my MK918 like i am doing everytime, but now it doesnt recognize my usb lan adapter as the main ethernet device.

Is there any way to force using the adapter?

(allready checked - wrong MAC Adress suggested by Ethernet option...)

                              /E: STUPID STUPID USER!

-.-! The USB - LAN Adapter just works on the left sided USB Port... narf. I am that stupid - i allready knew that but... narf narf.

is that any faster than using the in-built port?

also, why not use Wifi? it works very well on mine...
