Boots OK to desktop. For my "T" CPU, the CPU clock was still locked at 1.4Ghz. Antutu 17879 with V4072 kernel.

I also tried using overclockomatic_kk changing CPU clock. With kernel_v4072_TVBOX_cpu1800h_gpustock_ddr720, Antutu 20732.

      Wifi AP?

Has anyone been able to get their RK3188 sticks to become wifi hotspots? I can enable it in settings with v4.10 kernel but I can't see the SSID...

      Comment

I've already tested all RTL8188 kernel versions with T-R42 and Minix X7 0.9.5 Kitkat roms and everything works nice until first power off. Box hangs and all I can see is loading (circles) screen. I can wait even 10 minutes - still circles (boot animation works). The same problem is when I use kernel-k-r42-kikat-220414

        I have TN-BX09_V2.1 / 1329 / 2013/05/31

By time I have this box (over half year) few FW boots fine:

wasser's k-r42-1.2.5 (no webcam support, XBMC has probs after few secs with 1080p movies)
        wasser's 0.92-4.4.2 KitKat (no LAN)
lewy's K-R42_HFW_1.2.0_Final (XBMC has probs after few secs with 1080p movies)
allminipc ugoos_ut1_rk3188_4.4.KitKat.01apr2014 (worng remote mappings, no otg support)

With those FW's my box works but is still incomplete in capabilities. Rest of kernel / FW's that I've tested (almost all) won't boot or hangs.

CS968 V4 not working with these kernels

          D33,

I have tried these kernels below with my CS968 v4 with MTK chips and none of these are working correctly.

          Kernels and observations:
          a. kernel_v4.1_TVBOX_MT7601_HD-> reboots every 2 minutes or so, remote does not work, USB slot near OTG does not work. Ethernet does not work.

          b. kernel_v4.1_TVBOX_AP6210_HD_CPUONLY->USB slot near OTG does not work, Ethernet does not work, same reboot issue as above.

          c. kernel_v4053_MK5931-6622_HD_PWM->same reboot issue, antutu crashes. Did not test others since Settings was doing reboot everytime.

          d. kernel_TVBOX_RT8188_VMAC->did not boot

          e. kernel_TVBOX_AP6210->Ethernet does not work, wifi/bt do not work since it is AP6210, reboot issue

          f. kernel_v4.1_TVSTICK_AP6210-alt_HD->reboot issue when clicked Settings

          g. kernel_v4.1_TVSTICK_AP6210_HD->reboot issue when clicked Settings

All 4.0 Kernels (TV Boxes and Sticks) I have tried also exhibit similar behavior.
(All have the power LED glow dim blue/red where as for stock ROM it is solid bright blue.)

I am using CS968 ROM here.

I can test out any Kernels you build for CS968M.

          Thanks for your hard work!

Short term you can test with the kernel in post 994. It is AP6210 but should boot fine.

            Post a DMESG.

I've built a mt7601 test version but can't upload currently.

              Release 4.20 -> SD / TVBOX

I think there is a problem with VMAC source. It seems to mess up the PLL clock

I'm not very familiar with kernels and drivers, but as I understood, drivers for wireless go into the kernel. So, I have this MK809III with some rare Wifi chip ESP8089, you can look pictures here, and I found this link to kernel sources that seems to have the driver for this wifi chip. I was wondering if it's possible to add this driver you your kernels?

Need to know the GPIO this driver uses.

This compiles the driver but with a default GPIO

I have been trying to download this latest Kernel v4.20, but always got an error:

Sorry, just noticed Leolas' config (which I'm now adopting) had 1.6 GHz turned off

So all the recent kernels can be overclocked to your choice as normal, but are supplied as 1.4 GHz.

Next set will return to 1.6 as default.

Thanks d33 for fixing the download link!

However I noticed that you have included 4 files for TVBOX only...

Please d33, Could you include the Release 4.20 for TVSTICKS also, so we can installed it in the CX-919 TV-Sticks?

Or can we safely use any of the AP6210 TVBOX files in the CX-919?

                              D33,

I was able to test out this kernel_v4072_TVBOX which you referred above. Thanks a bunch! This seems to be the most compatible kernel with CS968M v4.

                              Here are my observations:
                              1. Now solid blue power LED (same as stock)
                              2. No reboots, very stable
                              3. USB slot near OTG works
                              4. Ethernet works, no Wifi/BT
                              5. Antutu scores were as below for 5 tests that I did (some after cleaning/moving apps to SD card)
                              16500, 17340, 18067, 17816, 17952

So better than my stock score of 16300+.

One thing I noticed is that Antutu still shows CPU as 1.4Ghzx4, so not sure how to interpret this. Would you need DMESG to see what is going on here?

Unfortunately, I could not grab a DMESG today (cause my wife got too annoyed with me sitting in front of it .)

Beyond XBMC was not smooth for 1080p but local 1080p videos were smooth with MX Player.
