that first link in here works and says os version right.
but no MT65xx preloader doesnt appear to device manager at all. device manager flashes couple times and battery loading picture appears to T9 screen for couple seconds and then it disappears.

With the tablet off, and disconnected from USB...run the flash tool and click the download button so it is ready to begin flashing.

          Plug in the USB port.

          The flash process will start.
This advice worked! I didnt even install drivers and T9 didnt appear to device manager. just run flashtool push download and after that I connected usb.
          Thanks Riley!

one question, How can I rotate homescreen ? rotation locked button doesnt help, it stays in landscape all the time. ->
I changed to nova launcher and rotation works.

That's a common complaint about the stock launcher on some tablets.

Glad you got it figured out!!!!!!!!

Problem: SIM Card reader not working / no SIM recognized - How to open your Pipo Talk T9 / Pipo T9

Since I first got my Pipo T9, my sim card reader has not worked and I've gotten a continual message that no sim card was present, regardless of whether I inserted my sim or not.

I've spent too much time with Anna at Pipo. She's been great, but basically there are no ways to get tablet to recognize any sim card (I've tried 4).

So, finally Anna sent me an image on how to open the T9. What this image what supposed to suggest, I don't know. This has nothing to do with how to open the T9.

How I opened mine: I used a guitar pick to separate the screen from the tablet. On the screen side, simply slip the pick between the bezel of the screen and the tablet. Work your way around and the thing will simply pop out. Be sure to watch for falling power / volume buttons. Also, watch for the speaker which is attached by a short cable.

Once open, I was able to see that the sim card reader only had 3 prongs, instead of the required 6. See photos.

Any ideas how to add the extra 3 I need?
Should I try to get the reader replaced?

Yes, it looks like your device slipped through the quality control checks.

If you are comfortable with a soldering iron, you might see if Anna will just send you the proper part. Otherwise, you should insist on a replacement tablet since it was obviously not assembled correctly.

                    Anna say's no!

I have just had an email from Anna at pipo.cn in it she says there is not going to be a KitKat ROM for the T9

Yet the new Talk T8 which uses the same octa core CPU and GPU and has a very similar spec as the T9 apart from the size, is leaving the factory with KitKat.

Could the T8 ROM be adapted for the T9?

                    Comment

Porting ROMs from one tablet to another presents itself with several problems. While the advertised specs are pretty much the same, there are major internal components that are different. Things like display, touch screen, bluetooth, wifi...etc often use a variation of chipsets on each device. That's why Android isn't an interchangeable OS like Windows. The kernels have to be designed and compiled for each individual device.

While the overall firmware might work on the T9, there isn't a kernel compiled for the T9 supporting KitKat. Likewise, there is enough difference between Jellybean and Kitkat that a kernel MUST be compiled for the device before an upgrade can even be considered.

I've been working closely with Pipo recently on a project, and while the T9 may still be in production (I don't know for sure), Pipo must have a pretty good reason for not supporting KitKat on this particular model. It isn't that they haven't tried...sometimes you just can't get the hardware and firmware to play well enough together to make it stable reliable.

I've been making custom ROM's for MTK devices for a few months now, but I'm still not that comfortable with even attempting to port ROMs.

I hope that answers your question.

@paul2482: I had different reply. In a mail dated July 21, Anna told me:
"I am afraid we don't have 4.4 firmware for T9 at the moment, but we will have it in the future. I am not sure about the time". At this point, I'm afraid that Anna doesn't know real situation about it.
@riley: T9 model is out since few months, it is not possibile that is out of production now.
If only a newer Rockchip model has phone capability, I would buy other tab.
