Guys anyone else having a problem with the camera focus on KitKat? It seems that
the back side camera (13mgpixels) cannot focus correctly on an object
when I tap the screen. This doesn't happen with the front camera
    though.

Reading posts on other sites the KitKat rom does have a camera focus problem which is affecting everyone that has updated, I have emailed Anna at pipo but no reply yet.

just have to wait for a fix or go back to 4.2.2 which is easy to do on the T9, not like the RK chipset on my M9Pro.

Had a reply from Anna at Pipo, she said there is NO focus problem with their ROM. So is this a problem with the custom rom only??

Just installed rom from Pipo same problem out of focus, so have sent another email to Anna, I think everyone should send a email to her, as they are saying there is no problem so the more that complain the better.

There is focus. Turn ZeroShutterDelay (ZSD) in your camera options on. It takes sharper pictures as ever before...

Just had this reply from Pipo
              "Dear Friend,

I asked our technicians about this, they said the 4.4 firmware we had can't
be compatible with some older camera.

There are two ways to solve this, keep the 4.2 firmware or change another
              new camera.

              Best regards,

              Anna "
So there does seem to be a hardware/firmware issue.

              Good old pipo...!!!

                That's interesting.

So it appears we have choices.

I, for one, hardly use the camera on my tablets...opting to take pix with my cell phone when I need to. If I use a camera at all, it's as a web cam...the front low res one.

So if the camera is an important feature for you...the early ROM's would be the best choice for you.

If the camera isn't that important...then the newer firmware might improve your overall performance.

Ethernet missing on menu setting for wired connection

                    @ALL EXPERTS

I observed that my T9 table does not not have Ethernet in the settings unlike my former M7pro Which had faulty display. Where I work, only wired connection to get internet is allowed. I have rooted my T9 with root genius and then installed Ethernet Droid and Ethernet Apps and used USB Ethernet adapter via OTG (RD9700). Which I was using on M7pro) but get this: 'ERROR ADAPTER NOT FOUND OR NOT CONNECTED`. it seems drivers related issue I guess

please any solution to enable Ethernet connection on my T9 would be great as I don't want to giveup on this wonderful tablet and more so cannot be returned to seller for the above reason.

                    Thanks.

                      USB Host T9

@ NEOVUS5 Try it with USB Host Diagnostics APP. I didn't tried Ethernet Stick with that, but it helps at many Problems with USB Devices, which aren't recognised by apps. I had a simmilar Problem with a DVBT Stick and it helps.

                        @ Freak2435
I did tried install USB Host Diagnostics APP. The report for USB flash drive is:

                        ANDROID API
                        Claims support: yes
                        classes found: yes
                        Device detected: yes

                        KENEL

                        OS support: yes
                        3rd party apps: full

When i tried it with my USB Ethernet adapter, it was not even recognized by the device nor the USB host diagnostic App. . does this mean it can support ethernet wired connection?
on the sys/class/net folder net folder, there is no eth0 which i understand is for ethernet connection as i have read from search made. am i correct?

                        see below directory

                        sys/class/net/ccmni0
                        sys/class/net/ccmni1
                        sys/class/net/ccmni2
                        sys/class/net/ifb0
                        sys/class/net/ifb1
                        sys/class/net/ip6tnl0

                        sys/class/net/.....(eth0 missing)

I don't know if the above can give a clue to help

                        Thanks

How does the future for the T9 look

Hello everybody. Being at the brink of buying a T9, I have been reading everything on FreakTab forum so as to glean all the information I can and hope I don't get bitten by some gotchas that I never saw coming.

The presence of rrileypm here is totally reassuring, without his input and guidance I might be inclined to pass.

My request here is to invite opinions on how Pipo view the T9. Is it a flagship device that they want to succeed with? It is hard to tell with Pipo as to what is important, they have such an enormous range.

The reason for the question is looking ahead to future support. Android L is out in a few weeks and for the T9 to continue to garner sales it will be essential for it to run Lollipop. I anticipate the Android landscape after 3rd November to be such that new devices will have to run (or at least promise) Lollipop or else they won't sell. So if the T9 is to continue in production Pipo will need to support it.

However it might be easier for Pipo to simply drop the T9 and move on.

I wonder how the members here see the T9 's future?

I will be surprised if Pipo upgrades the T9 to L. I'm thinking they will come out with a whole new device with L.

I'm not sure what their plans are for more MTK tablets.

I am sure you are right. These devices seem to have shorter and shorter life spans. Already Mediatek are onto a 64bit Octo Core MT8752 with on-die LTE.

For my part I need to decide on the T9 as it stands now and not on what I hope it might become. Thanks to your efforts at least we have 4.4.2.
