No old tv here so no idea but it could be the output wasn't compatible with it.

You can try pushing down on the hdmi cable when it plugged in to see if ti sparks a connection.
Sometimes the gap is only small and you get video when it pushed.

Yeah when i first lost signal jiggling the hdmi cable plugged in would flicker the desktop image on my tv but that only happened for about 5 minutes before losing it completely so im guessing the gap widened and will no longer jump the connection.

Its just very disappointing that it took weeks to get it to me to only choke after 3 months of using it my faith in geekbuying's offerings has been lowered.

In the end its about money and we don't matter.

They sold and continue to sell a knowingly a defective product.

The excuses are many and quite creative..lol.

The AV out works, but at least with a crappy quality (upscaling), which can cause eye cancer in the end.
Do you remember the old VHS tapes? This is comparable.
Tried it on my LED TV, before I re-soldered the pins.
            Absolutely not recommended.

For my part, I will avoid Geekbuying like the plague in the future and will strongly advise against them!

              A positive expereice after problems...

              Hi

last month I received my Tronsmart Vega s89-H unfortunately before I could even use the unit for the first time the HDMI port was non functional . After a bit of back and forth with After sales Geek buying agreed to RMA the unit. I have just received a brand new unit from Geek Buying. A quick look at the box tells me the HDMI port is different to the one I received previously. I wont be able to check its functional until I get home tonight but I am impressed with Geek buying response so far.

Yes they are a little hard to deal with initially asking for things that don't logically make sense - but I think they are trying to work out "user error" from actual hardware issues. And the postage time is a little long but that is too keep the costs down. I'm happy to work with them to get a reasonable outcome!

I'll report back on this unit once Ive had a chance to test it out.

Thanks Geek buying you have restored some confidence in your brand... lets hope this unit is stable and working 100%.

              Kind Regards

              Paul (Melbourne Australia)

I would save the praise and not hold your breath.

They been knowingly selling a defecitive unit for the better part of a year and working hdmi is the luck of the draw.
Even then it may fail at any time as many due to the port workmanship on the hdmi ports.

In any other country they been forced out of business for such behavior.

I guess that heating up the 4 big ground pads while pressing the connector against the PCB might help the other little pins to make contact (even if they aren't properly soldered) but that doesn't seem a solid solution for everyone.

With the help of pyn and Smokez I was able to resolve this issue and my box works perfectly. After pushing the HDMI cable very hard into the HDMI port I did get a brief display so I new I had a bad HDMI connection - either a loose port or poor pin connections. So I took the cover off my Tronsmart Vega ( remove the three screws under the rubber feet and gently pull the top off the bottom being careful not to break the wifi wire connected to the top). In my case I wiggled the HDMI port and found it to be very secure ( if not see pyn's post above) so I knew I had poor pin connections.

I looked into this on the internet and found out that poor or broken HDMI connections are a very common problem especially on tv's and game stations. HDMI cables are put in and pulled out with way to much force so if you don't have a display problem be very careful in connecting these cables. In my case my unit worked well for 2 months and then no display. I had plugged and unplugged my HDMI cable several times over that period without being careful, so I suspect that the factory had done a poor soldering job on the pins.

So, having no soldering skills whatsoever I took my unit into and electronics repair shop. The technician confirmed that he had seen many boxes like this with bad HDMI pin connections and carefully re-soldered the pins while I waited. As the pins were easy to access he did not have to remove the circuit board (thank God!). So now my unit works perfectly.

All sold them and most if not all sold through the same source which was geekbuying who ultimately responsible.
Some where better at honoring rma then others just as support better with others.

Fortunately the upside is that the issue was fixable with little expense on our part.
I redid mine and made a vent in the top which now has the box humming along perfectly.
Others have had to get a store to do it but the cost is minor and thank god the manufactures didn't mess anything else up.

Would a buy again..not without doing my homework on how the device behaves and works which i didn't this time because it was a gift.
I certainly avoid geekbuying unless they got thier act together.

                              HDMI not working

                              Another HDMI poet...

I have used this device about 5 months without any issues. It was working great, without any issues. Few weeks ago the problem started. Sometimes the picture got frozen or just black screen (no HDMI) appeared. This happen often and often. Now it's impossible to start-up the device because of no HDMI signal.
The geekbuying support told me that they can repair the device for free but I have to pay shipping fee for sending the item from CN to my country. I'm also afraid that I will pay again customs for the same device...

Does anyone have a guide how to solve this issue? Is soldering of the pins sufficient, or the replacement of HDMI port is required. The funny thing is that the device was still on the same place (no movement with device, no movement with HDMI cable...).

Replacing the hdmi port isn't need and soldering the pins should be fine.

The problem is the soldering in factory is piss poor and after enough heating and cooling they tend to loose connection and poof no hdmi.

Post 28 in this thread describes the fix which isn't to hard.

If your unsure you can take it to a electronics store and have them do it for you at little cost.

Geekbuying doesn't actually repair your unit but sends out a replacement.
You may get a new one or a repaired unit but there no guarantee that its gong to be any better.

Supposedly they dont send repaired units out but that's BS as myself and others here have been sent repaired units (which fail again).
Also they say they fixed the issue but since they sold the defective units for nearly a year knowingly people just aren't believing them.

The rma can take months and they got no end of excuses for the wait. (mine was 5 months)
