My screen is able to display an 1080p input stream since my PS3 is configured in 1080p. Ok the visual result is not real 1080p because my screen can't display 1080 lines but only 1050. But the fact i want to point is that my screen can handle 1080p input stream (by downscaling it to a resolution with a width of 1680 pixels and a height of 1680/(16/9)=945 pixels, which is far better than 720p).

My screen internal software may report it is not able to handle 1080p, but that's not true since when i send 1080p to my screen i have an image, and i agree this image is not a real 1080 lines image but it's neither a 720 lines image, it's in fact a 945 lines image (1080p downscaled to my screen native resolution).

An other way to see my problem is : PS3 can send a 1080p image to my screen, why minix can't ?

One last time... it can not force your screen to display a resolution it doesn't support... end of story. It can display 1080p IF the screen is capable of it... or the next highest resolution it supports is 720p.

If you can't understand that... then the issue is only with your understanding of it, it can't be explained less technically.

+1. You will not notice any improvement using 1080p kernel if you don't have 1080p screen. When you use a 1080p kernel internally the device is working at 1080p, rendering and drawing almost double of pixels, and after, being scaled down to be send to the screen. That make no sense.

Ok once again i think i'm not able to explain my problem clearly.

My screen native resolution is 1680x1050, that's a fact. An other fact is that my screen is able to display an input image in 1080p by downscaling it (i'm sure of that because this is how my PS3 is configured, and in this case in the menu of my screen, input stream is described as 1080p).

My problem is that with a 1080p kernel, in the menu of my screen input stream is described as 720p, and i can assure you that the image displayed is in 720p not in 1080p (the dfference of quality is quite obvious).

My understanding of leolas answer is this problem is because my screen "says" to the kernel that it is not able to display a 1080p image. Then the kernel don't even try to display 1080p but reduce resolution to 720p and send a 720p image.
If my understanding is ok, then my question is: is it possible for the kernel not to listen screen capabilites and to force resolution to 1080p whatever the screen connected ?

Once again sorry for my bad english and i hope this time my explaination is a bit clearer...

For information my minix is connected to my computer monitor which have a native resolution of 1680x1050 but this monitor is able to dispay 1080p signal (and in this case it says input is 1920x1080) for example when it is connected to my PS3.
OK, if you have a no full HD screen, then the device can't made 1080p native, your screen will scale the resolution in your ps3, in the minix with this rom if your screen don't report 1080p capable you will not got real 1080p output. Your situation is special.

But you see where you are in 720? You have a great TV with the smaller image in center ?
daemonium has almost ready the patch, but we are very busy this week, we will made an update when we have some free time.

I did installed various 1080p kernel using quickshot-update.zip method. Update seems to work correctly and my zip file is renamed but i'm always in 720p whatever the kernel i use.
I'm sure i'm doing something wrong, that's why i want to know if there is a way to know which kernel is installed on my device, in order to check what's happening.

I still have a problem with this rom, I'm not able to have 1080p working.
I installed SQ3.1 by upgrading from QS3.0 which already had this problem (I thought that this upgrad could help to resolve my problem). I tried several kernel, 720p and 1080p and the only difference is the icon size, resolution is always 720p.
In screen settings the only choice i have is between 1280x720p-60 and 720x480p-60 whatever the kernel I use.
How can i ensure that kernel is correctly installed ?
you will have 1080p working if you choose a 1080p kernel. If you want small icons in 1080p, install a 1080p kernel and the small icons patch.
