Arnova 10b G3 with EXT4 and CWM - BETA 2 ROM

I did not touch anything to do with ADB or USB.

Remember this is the latest ROM DUMP (same as Kasty .42 dump we both got it from the same person) so things may have changed to what you were running before.

Remember we have 3 different versions of the 10b G3 ROM. I honestly do not know which is better? We do know that the dump I initially got and the dump from Kasty's original tablet have problems with some hardware and the screen not working! This 3rd most recent dump fixed the screen issues some were having.

BUT is it a better more stable ROM? WHO knows?
All I know is the kernel build and the Android build on this ROM have the most recent date from Arnova.

Well so far so good - much better and a LOT faster than the Kasty ROM, very happy!
I'll test CWM later on but at the minute the problems I had with the revised Kasty ROM and your original dump - Google Play issues and 'vanishing' apps - are both fixed!

Looks like rrileypm has some issues with his tab still...

Worked after I added the XML files...searched for 'Facebook' and there it was!
My tab is also showing up as another new device on Google Play - I had one when I flashed the new rom, then another after I added the XML files...

I wish I could remove some devices from Google Play instead of just removing them from menus!

Now, I'm up and running. WOW!!!

It like I just got a new tablet rith out of the box. This has been what I've been waiting for, for rhe last month.

I'm all loaded back and everything seems to work great.

Now working on those xml files for gp.

why?

i removed the bootanimation from damo and replaced with mine
but when i restart i see 1 sec. damo's bootscreen and then mine.
how could it be what you removed is still visible for 1 sec

It's a PAIN doing this with no way to test!

EXT4 is much better isnt it? And you have 2 gigs of APP space without that slowing down your system. Thats my tricks I learned a while ago


BUT.... I have to release a BETA 2.

Looking at the CM9 market file kit, I see I am missing some library files! Not sure they really are needed though. They seem to be used for facelock and video chat etc?. They might improve skype for all I know?

So, expect BETA 2 today.

YOu only removed the boot animation not the boot screen.. The first boot screen is hard wired into the rom

Yea but now with EXT4 it boots so fast you barely see the boot screen

Should I be able so see the extra APP space anywhere?
If I check settings/storage I get
Total space : 1.03GB
Apps : 300MB
Misc : 2.84MB
Available : 1.02GB

I think 1.02GB is just what is available in /sdcard
Where's this magic 2GB of space? Should it be under 'Apps' ?

Does network location work on this ROM? The 10 G2 it never worked until I fixed it.

I notice there is no networklocation.apk in the stock ROM which leads me to think it does NOT work?

Be careful testing this. Google Maps may work! But try Google Earth and see if that works.

Let me know as I have the CM9 networklocation.apk which may fix location services if it is not working now.

Google Maps via browser didn't work for me earlier, just tried Maps and Earth apps, doesn't work on those either.

I figured network location was not working... WHY THE HECK does Arnova do that.
So BETA 2 will have talk and netwroklocation.apk in it and lets see if that works!

FYI you did enable "location services" in the settings correct? Or as typical of Arnova they took that out of settings?



As for memory report. Not sure what to tell you as I have no idea how that is reporting it.
The STOCK ROM had this in the parameter file:

0x00100000@0x000ca000(userdata)

That is 512MB of user app space allocated to what is called /data

I changed it to this:
0x00400000@0x000ca000(userdata)

That is 2GB of space now allocated for /data
