HPH Android TV BOX of RK3288 64gb 4gb ram $200

Now we wonder if it's a pre sale and if all of the development that took place of the RK3188 has been included in the next generation of RK devices?

      I like the 4GB ram.

      Nice find, thank you.

        Isn't the max 3GB on a 32bit arm cpu?

My understanding about it is that the manufacturer can built a 4 Gb device if the SoC support it but being a 32 bit system any RAM above of 3 Gb won´t be used, so it would be a waste of resource ($$) for nothing. RAM > 3 Gb It will be only worthy if the device is built on 64 bit SoC....

I have always thought 4gigs was the limit on 32bit computers.

There are a lot of 32 bit SoC able to be assembled with 4 Gb of RAM, but the 32 bit OS frame or architecture is not able to use effectively more than 3 Gb, I Guess the exact max amount is 3.2 Gb; It´s the same for a 32 bit PC OS. To can take advantage of the 4 Gb of RAM or more a 64 bit system is required, if not there is not a real reason to have the 4 GB of RAM.

Any Unix (or whatever should i call it) supports PAE if i am not wrong and it is quite default. I might be wrong on this, but i know that it won't have limitations like Windows does, hence all of us know that 4GB barrier due to Windows.

                      rk3288 memmory limitation

                      guys, just take a look:

rk3288 thanks to LPAE (Large Physical Address Extensions) supports up to 8GB of RAM. Then you can even build a small/medium Linux server on it (i.e. web or database with PostgreSQL)!

                        update on availability

Tina says stock is ready to ship by Thursday for 2g/8g. 4g/64g is still $200 but minimum order is 50 units before they would begin production. Maybe we could form a freaktab buying group

I couldn't have said it any better. I don't even think this forum would exist if they were stable.
