I have this CS918 v7, I was able to make a backup of the stock firmware by following the tutorial by "Bob". Does anyone know if there is any firmware that supports DTS/Dolby that can be flashed on this board?
The specs are:
MOTHERBOARD: CS918 V7.0 20141208
CPU: Rockchip RK3188T
RAM: 1GB
NAND: SK Hynix H27UCG8T2BTR (8GB)
Audio: Rockchip RK1000-S
Wifi Bluetooth: Realtek RTL8723BU
Rockchip RK616 Ethernet: IC Plus IP101GR

The strange thing is that when I first got the CS918, it was only able to output video as 720p. I went into Settings and did a factory reset, apparently the "backup" kernel was 1080p and the installed one was 720p. I installed SPMC via Play but that audio output was garbled in all modes but it showed the video as 1080p - "default", SPDIF passthrough" and "HDMI". I installed Kodi, but there its only stereo in any mode and it shows the video in 720p. Very strange indeed. I have a Boxee that runs Kodi off NFS, only problem is that it cannot output DTSMA, is it possible to have the CS918 boot of f SDHC or use the SDHC with a cross compiled kernel for ARM? I am willing to figure out how to cross compile Android with the proper options, and to properly flash the NAND. I don't have many leads but Google has provided me with a start. Anyone who does know - I'd be grateful for any pointers. When I do have the results I need - I will post the HOWTO or the pertinent links.

Hi to everyone, "maybe" i found a compatible image for the pcb "HLSX-CS918 v1.1". I found the image from this link: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1hqopWSs
wifi, bluetooth and ethernet works, but after every shut down it's needed to disconnect and reconnect the power plug to restart it ( sorry for my bad english )
The remote controller don't work, and there are 2 launchers. The streaming video are very bad, probably due to the 1388T, for me it's the worst pcb for this deviceLast edited by topo70; 27 April 2015, 22:54.

These android boxes are simply good if you wanted to connect it to a TV and your internet. Its not for those who want a media player HTPC. It is too easy to buy the wrong one and expect DTSMA or Dolby output. My WDTV did all audio formats, and I was wrong to assume that these cheap no-name boxes could do that. I would not even consider Beelink or Tronsmart anymore. Instead, I got a ZOTAC CI320-NANO with 4GB RAM (CAD$230) and a 16GB USB3 flash drive ($7.99). I installed OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-5.95.1 beta, and everything just worked. The only exception was CEC which Zotac does not support. Intel NUC does support CEC. The time now correct, KODI was always 1 hr behind, my timezone is also now selectable and NTP servers are fully configurable. I get DTSMA via passthrough which really rocks. I decided to give my CS918 away to someone who was okay with stereo. The great thing is that I can easily reinstall OpenELEC or Windows or Kodibuntu and not worry about bricking. I might put in a 120GB SSD if the prices drop around $40, right now they are $60. Its too bad theres no OpenELEC for ARM, imagine if it could be written to a USB or SDHC card, only thing is that some folks use their Android box for more than just Kodi.

I received this device a few days ago and need to return an error to introduce the firmware ...
That is why we need the firmware.

I found another alternative - and its costs about USD$100 - WeTek.com, "Play Android" - its the same price as the Beelink or Tronsmart except it can boot OpenELEC. Its comes in three configs: plain Kodi (Android w/Google certification) TV box, DVB & Kodi or ATSC & Kodi. It also allows you to install OpenELEC. The base features include DTS & Dolby passthrough. In terms of obsolescence, once they stop releasing new firmware, you have an upper hand over the others (Bee, Tron etc) - you can install the latest version of Kodi. I looked at it and it has a dual core AML-8726 with 1GB of RAM & 4G NAND. Wetek uses their own OS, but they allow you to boot off the SDHC to run a fully supported version of OpenELEC. I know folks will say "I can get a quad core with 16GB NAND & 2GB RAM for just $20 more" but I'm exploring all my options with preference over obsolescence protection.
