      1 - RK3288 is a Cortex A12 (they wrongly reported A17!!!)
2 - True (tegra K1 is a lot faster and of course a lot more expensive)
3 - Camera is claimed 8Mp but real test resulted in bad picture quality (but a tablet is not build for pictures)
4 - P1 and other tablet has 10.000mAh (P9 has needs less battery power), battery life is good but not fantastic.
6 - right (also Intel BayTrail SoC supports 4K)

        Got my new P9

Well, the P9 arrived this morning from a UK seller on **** called smart-accessories-uk. More expensive than buying from China or elsewhere, but for my first Chinese tablet purchase, I wanted to make returns easy if there are any problems, and didn't want to have to deal with any customs duty hassles.

The tablet seems nice and nippy so far, though I'm a little puzzled by the internal storage being shown as 25GB. Is that 25GB free not counting the OS and formatting, or perhaps a recovery partition (it's running 4.4.2)? Hopefully it's not a fake...

I haven't tried rooting it yet, but that day will surely come :-)

          Re: Pipo P9 Testing/Review

The tablet has 32gb of total NAND memory.

From that...you subtract about 1gb for the system. Subtract another 4gb for the userdata partition. KitKat also has some other cache partitions...25gb is about right for stock.

My custom ROMs take up more space if you choose higher user app space sizes.

Thanks for that, Riley. Looks as if I need to spend some time on DDG to learn a bit more about how KK sets up its partitions.

OTOH, I have searched online and in the supplied instruction manual to find out if there's a way to reposition windows on the screen when in the Multi view, and drawn a blank. I'm hoping it's possible, otherwise it'll make the tablet more of a pain to use for me.

Otherwise, I'm really enjoying the P9 so far. It's certainly a lot faster than the Nook, has good wifi reception (at least mine does!), and the battery life seems promising so far (mine arrived with 89% on the meter and is only down to the high 70s after a couple of hours' use. It's easier to hold one-handed too, thanks to its fatter, more rounded edges.

Not sure if I should put the Nook out to pasture or keep it on as a back-up/expendable tablet ☺

Well, that was short and sweet...

I was playing around with the tablet, went to plug my Grado headphones in, and found that the headphone socket doesn't line up with the hole in the casing. The jack goes in at an angle, and has to be pushed hard to get it to go in at all. The socket's never going to last like that, so I've asked the seller to swap this p9 for one where the socket lines up.

This is where I find out if it's worth paying the extra for a UK purchase :-)

              Cheers, Jon.

                Pipo UK official reseller

                Hi Jon

Glad you like P9 but to be honest you didn't do your homework properly as there is an official Pipo reseller here in UK and the prices are better than what you paid on **** + they provide Uk 3 pin charger for the tablets (got M8 Pro/ Zopo ZP998/P4 replaced by T9 from them). Bought few things from them already and the customer service is great as well so can fully recommend. They are called Digital Play World.

Randy I have to correct you on this one it will be M8Pro (9.4) rather than M8HD (10.1) but both of them share the same case tho. Also the screen is different where M8Pro got Lg screen 1280x800 while HD got full HD 1920x1200. So with lower res screen I wonder how the battery gonna cope.

Interesting. How much do they charge for the 3G version?

That's correct. My sources from Pipo didn't specify the actual screen size when they told me about the P7. I just assumed that it would be the same as M8HD. Sounds like they had a bunch of M8 Pro screens left over. This device has actually been an OEM job for Pipo for a tablet sold under the Archos brand for a while. Pipo had to wait before introducing the P7 until their deal with Archos ran out.

I still haven't seen the P7 for sale anywhere, yet.

                        P9 number 2 arrives...

Got the second P9 this afternoon, having sent back the first, and this one seems bang-on so far: no more wonky headphone socket which requires excessive force, and all the other sockets line up too. Rawtekk's 'Snowflakes' is sounding very good at the moment, streaming off YouTube :-)

Had a look on Digital Playworld, and I see what you mean about the price. Oh well, better luck next time. At least I got a free 'leather' case and car-cigarette charger (don't have a car), though I'm guessing DPW supply those free too. Is their delivery free (I'm guessing it is, but couldn't find it on the web site after a quick look)?

                        Cheers, Jon.

Pipo Tablets are extremely good price/quality relation.
The biggest issue I found, and I'm sure all M9 owners found to, is the building of their Android OS. Its extremely buggy specially afeter a few weeks of use. It gets almust unsuable.
                          Is this P9 he same?

Did you test other brands that you're so sure of this "extremely good price/quality" ?

I simply do not agree, I needed to open my ex m6pro so many times for the very bad assembly quality, solderings, antennas...

Honestly I didn't. But for example, my Pipo M9 died and I'm looking for a new tablet priced at the most €270 and I can't find anything as good as this P9:
                              - Cameras not importante
                              - display - very important
                              - ram - minimum 2GB
                              - android kikkat - IMportant
                              - Internal memory - minimum 16GB

If you know anything with the above specs for the same price as this P9, or a good brand less than €270 just let me know

I agree with your choice ONLY if you are looking for a 16:9 tablet like pipo p9 is (there are no good alternatives as far as I know), but if you like also 4:3 retina display tablets: cube, teclast and iFive build tablets a lot better than pipo now!

I'm quite worried about lack of unibody design 4:3 pipo tablet, I think that on this kind of products pipo is far behind the competitors.
