I see that your AVR has HDMI 1.3a and you are able to get sound from HDMI and spdif. I have a Harmon Kardon AVR 347, and can't get any sound from HDMI, have not tried spdif. I tried to find the HDMI specs for my AVR, but no definite answer. All the manual says is HDMI 1.2. Since my AVR is much older, I would guess that HDMI 1.2 is correct. Maybe from this information, we can conclude that the RK89 only works with the newer HDMI spec. All my other boxes work well with my AVR, strange.

Sorry for late reply but im using a Sony STR - DA2800ES which ive just bought after some advice from a friend at Sony i updated the firmware to V1057 :

Name: AV Receiver firmware to version 1057
        Date released: 04/02/2014
        Benefits and improvements:
        • Makes the STR compatible with the HDMI 2.0
        • Adds support for 4K/60p signal: * Only YCbCr 4:2:0 / 8bit
          • 3840x2160p @ 59.94/60Hz *
          • 3840x2160p @ 50Hz *
          • 4096x2160p @ 59.94/60Hz *
          • 4096x2160p @ 50Hz *

Can now confirm that my reciever is working through HDMI After i used Oman update zip I can get both DTS and Dolby Digital files to work through HDMI the same as spdif. There is a slight buzzing sound though which is more audible as you crank the sound up.

Interestingly i cant through my old Onkyo recoever which was HDMI 1.4..

I am struggling to find out the supported HDMI version of my Sony STR-DH520, but given that it's an entry-level model from a couple of years ago, I'm just going to assume it does not support 2.0

The only page that states a specific version is this review, which says it's 1.4a

The Receiver does support 3D, so that puts it somewhere between 1.4 and 1.4b, according to Wikipedia

So I'll go with 1.4a for the time being.

Would it help to collect the information about our AV Receivers in a Google Doc, or can we already narrow it down to a specific version that the R89 is struggling with?

          EDIT:

I went ahead and created a document. Maybe it can help oman to have all our configurations in one place, so please fill out your setup (and feel free to extend it with anything that might be helpful, I just added in the most obvious things without giving it much thought)

          Here's the doc:

You column "HDMI-version" is formated for date. If I just add 1.2, it converts it to a date. I could not figure out have to change it from "date" formating.....

Since nobody tried the beelink r89 on a old crt tv: i did today in our fitness room and it works just fine.
Only thing i noticed is the audio volume seems to be a tiny bit lower.

                        Otherwise is works awesome

Tv is a old pal 50hz tv
