see this link about this information.

I could test connecting directly to surround system testing same file but will not have any video signal then.

Not necessary, the HDMI audio passthrough problem does not apply in your case. You are really just connecting your box into your TV.

Why not necessary? Are you sure, that the TV isn't the part at this setup via ARC that forces that it works? I think it's not a bad idea to also test the way direct to the AVR...

I have this option on my tv when connecting through tv, with dolby activated I get 5.1 sound. Note tv will not passthrough DTS but DTS video surround files through tv:s usb player will output 5.1 DTS to my surround reciever (reciever sees audio as dts, a third dts option is visible in the same menu).

Tv:s netflix app also gives 5.1 dolby to surround reciever.

Then you can create the logcat per Oman's instructions......
              thanks for the test.

yes, I am aware that you will have no video, but when you connect back to your tv, you could still create the logcat.

No chance to use a setup like this
                R89 ->HDMI-> AVR ->HDMI-> TV
only to be sure nothings get wrong because of the disconnect...???

One word of caution, it is recommend to power off your equipment prior to connecting or disconnecting your HDMI cable.

I rebooted my R89 box and after the reboot, it asked me if I wanted to update. It did the update and now it is running this new firmware. Everything that was there prior to the update, is still there.
I couldn't get this method to work. I put the update.img on my MicroSD card and it found the update, but said it couldn't find it after rebooting.

Make sure you rename it to "update.img". Then it should work. When you reboot it will tell you it found an update and ask if you want to install it.

No Sound on a Yamaha AV receiver > logfile sent

When I play the file when the R89 is connected directly to my HP monitor I can hear the 'clicking' digital sound coming through.

Good instructions Oman: This is how testing is done to focus on a specific problem. Create a procedure with one variable - i.e the AV Receiver in this case.

Hmmm...that's what I did. It found the update and asked if I wanted to install. I said yes, then the box rebooted and appeared like it had begun the update before dumping out to recovery with a message that update.img wasn't found. Weird -- maybe I should try another card?

I would just download it again

Just download it right from your box. When the download is complete, use Esfileexplorer to extract the img file. Rename it then copy that img file to your micro SD card. The img file is over 600 megs.
You did extract the img from the zip file??
