Everything that was there prior to the update, is still there.
I copied thehd_other_blue_ray_samsung_sound_demo_DD.m2ts to my external SD card and using the stock video player, I played this file. I did not have any sounds coming from my Harmon Kardon AVR347 receiver. Using the Syslog app, I created the log files and emailed them to Oman.

So the AVR didnt communicate to R89 successfully..I guess you plug in the HDMI cable after the R89 powered up.
And you didnt use the right video Player, not the Gallery one..
Anyway, pls try one more time..THX.Easy way to catch LOG -> Search 'Syslog' in Google Play, then install it and catch log

When I play the file when the R89 is connected directly to my HP monitor I can hear the 'clicking' digital sound coming through.
Good instructions Oman: This is how testing is done to focus on a specific problem. Create a procedure with one variable - i.e the AV Receiver in this case.
But mine is ok..
And are you sure you did this step:
Select Setting->Sound->Sound Devices Manager to HDMI Bitstream.
Because if you didnt do that,it cant decode AC3 file via stock video player, that means playing hd_other_blue_ray_samsung_sound_demo_DD.m2ts cant sound out..
You give me two kinds of log files,I am not clear about what's the two test scenario ,mine is:
R89 ->Yamaha HDMI IN, then Yamaha HDMI OUT ->TV...and there are 4 HDMI IN of my receiver, you must setup the right one.Easy way to catch LOG -> Search 'Syslog' in Google Play, then install it and catch log

I can conform that the R89 was set to HDMI out. In the first file I sent you the HDMI port on the Receiver was set to Optical,so I realized that, switched it over to HDMI and sent a second file. I tried various power up sequences with the boxes connected and sent you the last one. I tried the same file using my LG bluray player and the same port on the AV receiver and all is fine. Even switched ports.
I tried both the forced DTS and auto input setting on the receiver but no difference.
Added a keyboard to my R89 so that I can provide a bit more info in my emails.
Let me know if you find anything in the log file.
Its 2.00 AM over here , so I am logging off now.

EDIT: I sent you another email some minutes ago. Same result as before. This time, I checked SPDIF as the third (last) option, so don't let that confuse you.Last edited by Arbelzapf; 18 September 2014, 12:46.

Log sent showing no sound when connected directly to av reciever. I get perfect dolby when r89 connected to tv and then via hdmi arc to surround reciever. I could not find my audiovideocable (I know I have somewhere) so could not test surround reciever connected when turning on the R89. Surround reciever has only 1 hdmi.
Log also sent about the internet hotspot reboot problem and a problem with the Watson streaming app.Last edited by ssspacman; 18 September 2014, 17:28.

This is what I don't get: Why does not even spdif work for me?
I have it all running on my Minix X8-H and it works. I'm just switching sources on my AVR (and plug in the spdif cable + change the sound setting), but the R89 remains silent.
I may not fully understand all the details, but I would have assumed that using spdif would basically circumvent all HDMI communication shenanigans and pass the audio through that "other channel". Can someone explain that to me?
Or is there another handshake going on via spdif which the R89 may or may not fail to do? If yes, it should hopefully be in the logs and oman can look at it, but if not, I'm pretty lost
