NEW - MK808-B mini TV Player - Finless 1.5 Custom ROM

    Hello again folks!
By request here is a custom ROM for the MK808-B

This is ONLY for the MK808-B (with Bluetooth) and not the regular MK808! If you flash the wrong ROM good chance wifi will not work.

    Features in 1.5 ROM:

    1) Fully rooted with the latest SU and SuperUser.apk
    2) Debloated of china and other junk APPs.
    3) Added hide status bar button to the status bar. To return the status bar go into settings etc.
    4) Special add for this ROM. Full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it.
If you do, you can now install and use boot time scripts like V6 SUper Charger!
    5) All APPs are up to date as of 12/28/2012! So you will not get any Google Play APPs needing updated.
    6) Cleaned up the file system so it is not fragmented! Basicly I used linux tune2fs when making the images.
    7) I added a reboot APP that will allow you to reboot the device from the Android UI. No more unplugging the unit!
It will also allow you to reboot to ROM flash mode and later when I add ClockWOrk Mod, it will reboot to recovery.
    8) ADDED BONUS User APP space by default is only .5GB. I have increased that to 2Gig.
    9) The Xbox XPAD.KO module is now injected on boot. This was by request! Enjoy!
    10) CIFS, TUN and MD4 KO modules were also added by request.

In the ROM kit there is a read me! This has full instructions for how to upgrade. So PLEASE read the read me!

Here is my Finless 1.5 MK808B ROM:

    ROM -> MK808-B Finless 1.5 ROM with init.d (218 megs)

    Enjoy,
    Bob

New ROM worked well for a while and then wifi turned off

          Hi Bob,

I have tried the custom ROM for MK808B. It was working fine for the first 30 mins and then wifi suddenly turned off. After that I could not turn on the wifi at all. When I turn on wifi it goes to off immediately. Previously I had this same problem with the MK808 firmware. I rebooted twice, power off and on but nothing helped. Can you please help on this?

            Questions

I just got this little kit yesterday and have not tried this custom ROM yet. I have two questions:

            i) I mainly have Linux machines around the house. Is it possible to flash from Linux?

ii) The device currently runs at 1280x672 streched over the HD signals and the picture is a little blurry. What does the process look like to implement native 720p and 1080p resolutions? Do we need new source archives or binaries from the producer/geekbuying or can the community implement this without support?

There is no way to implement 1080p. Bob doesn't do kernels and 2dark4u can't make any since the source for this device is not release.

The best that can happen is a 1080p firmware update by the manufacturers.

then how are they selling this as 1080P devices when the native resolution is not even HD? Also I don't think the MK808 is that much different so why wouldn't a kernel from an 808 work on an 808B?

AFAIK they used a different wifi chip in the 808B to provide the bluetooth functionality, which likely rely on different kernel drivers. So even if the graphics part is the same, we can not reuse the same kernel binary that comes with the MK808 ROM.

Try re-flashing it again with this ROM. Carefully follow the steps given in the Read Me file while flashing. Check if it throws any errors during flashing.

Just to make sure if your hardware is a problem, try the stock ROM for MK808B from http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...ware-download/

Also make sure if it is MK808 or MK808B. There is a big chance of sending the wrong device. This happened to me. If the package does not mention the model as MK808B then check whether Bluethtooth is mentioned in the specification on the package. If no bluetooth is specified it could be MK808. Then try with MK808 custom ROM.

If this also fails you can contact the seller for replacing the device.
