    Adapter is very important ~~
Some unstable usually due to adapter
    This is my test result
My MK808B wifi still unstable on stock rom and Finless 1.5 Custom ROM

Do you mean the power adapter?

I think some people have had problems because their units were faulty under both the original firmware and the Finless 1.5 Custom firmware.

In addition I think some people had problems when they flashed the firmware and needed to reflash it.

Re: NEW - MK808-B mini TV Player - Finless 1.5 Custom ROM

I just had something odd happen. After flashing this rom, things worked great for a few hours. But I was still powering the unit via the OTG port plugged into the computer. Where I unplugged that and went back to the normal cord plugged into a wall adapter and DC power port, Fin1.5 booted fine, but Droidmote (which launches on boot) gave me an error. Seems that it could not verify my license because wifi was off. And whenever I try to turn it on, it goes off again. So I went to the power via the OTG port plugged in to the wall adapter and now it won't finish the boot. It is stuck on the animation screen. I've tried a different cable and even plugging the USB to the TV for power. Doesn't seem to matter whether I use the DC port or the OTG port. Still stuck in the "System loading..." phase of the boot process. Any ideas?

rom get corrupted on reboot? possible to backup whole rom?

Hi, this is a nice rom, thanks finless! Looking forward to 1.6.

          Problem:
When I reboot or shutdown my mk808b using the green reboot-app, it often hangs at boot-logo when starting again. In that case I must reflash and customize (puh) all my settings all over again. Very frustrating. Sometimes I reboot 5 times no problem, and sometimes just 1. Use a 2A power supply.

Is this a known problem? Is it possible to backup rom, CWM or similar?

(Also i find it strange that eg cpy-spy report 100% time on 1008ghz when its actually scaling between 1400 and 200 (setcpu) Not a big problem, but curious.)

          thanks

I noticed that some folks fixed their wifi issue by flashing the rom on Xda. I have a question for those of you who did. Does it have the increased app partition as well, or do you return to this rom?

If you hang on reboot then the file system got corrupted.

Understand like a PC it is not good to just shut off the system. The reason is it could be writing data to a partition and when you pull the plug if it is doing that, you will corrupt the file system. So the rule is never just unplug the unit! Use the reboot APP or some other reboot APP.

Now I am suprised magnemann is having a problem with the reboot APP. That APP was written specifically to "unmount" all partitions before rebooting. I have never had it fail on me like you are seeing but I also do not have a MK808B. SO maybe it has some incompatability with the MK808B kernel?

Are you using reboot or power down in the APP? Whichever you are using try using the other. As I recall the power down function is actually better at unmounting as it waits for writing to stop.

I have another Bob question. The ROM comes with an app to reboot normally or into flash mode. Is that APK available anywhere? Does it only work on your rom?

That APP is made by FreakTab APP developer Petrus. You can get it here:

It should work on any RK29 or RK3066 device.

Thanks, Bob! Can you answer my other question? If I have to flash that XDA ROM over this one to get my wifi back and get out of this never-ending boot screen, does it re-partition my unit back to the small app size? What is my best option going forward to get both wifi and the larger app partition? Just re-flash your ROM again? If I don't clear NAND first, would it preserve my apps?

Both of these ROM will erase your data. Use Titanium Backup to backup your APPs and data and you can restore it after flash. I do not reccomend NOT erasing NAND. You can try but expect an unstable system.

Yes you will be back to small APP space with the stock ROM.

Thanks, Bob. The larger space is just one of the reasons that I want to stay with your ROM. The other is that you seem to live here and have such great support for my dumb questions.

I re-flashed your ROM without the erase NAND first. For some reason, my screenshot icon came back. But it still would not connect to wifi. So I'm going through the WHOLE process again with the erase and then the flash and we'll see what happens. If this doesn't work, do you have any other suggestions prior to me attempting the XDA rom?

                            Thanks for info, Bob.
Cant rembember if i reboot or shutdown with the reboot APP when ROM gets corrupted. I'll let you know if I can pinpoint the error later!

How fast should my mk808b shut down with the APP? Seems like it takes only a second, does it unmount everything that fast? It does not show any 'progress bar' either.

On my Galaxy Nexus it takes about 4 seconds.

After a full erase and re-flash, I used the reboot tool to power down before I unplugged from the computer and went back to power from the AC to the DC port. This time, it kept my wifi. YAY! I mention that though in case you want to add the power off as the last step in the install directions if that could have anything to do with the boot and wifi issues.

Thanks a lot for this ROM Bob, I like it very much.

Especially the hide statusbar is nice, but I've a question about it: Is there a way to hide the bar until reboot or something similar? Background: Every time I start XBMC the statusbar pops up and if I hide it again the whole window drops down. So the window is the size of the statusbar smaller on top. The main problem about this is, that the mouse positions for buttons are on it's original place, so I have to choose a button always a bit above them ...

Furthermore some things I've noticed about MK808b (and see, that others have similar probs):
                                1. For installing drivers in Windows I must ENABLE USB Function in settings of MK808B (in the readme I've read, that I have to set it OFF). That took me some time to realize After that Windows searched for the driver as described.
                                2. I've had the same prob with opening apps which crashes after flashing that someone wrote earlier. But after I use the delivered AC adapter instead of the integrated USB for power all works flawless.
                                3. Before I've installed your ROM I wanted to know if I have a clone or not. I managed it due to the following way:
                                - Install Terminal Emulator from Google Play Store
                                - After installing - run it ...
                                - Type: su <Enter> to get the correct rights
                                - Type: dmesg <Enter>
                                - It'll show up a bunch of text, but somewhere in the middle it shows up the firmware which was loaded for WLan. For my adapter it was rk903b. So all was fine and after flashing Wlan and BT works as expected.
