New MK808B Firmware Released Today

Could you please modify the new firmware with all of your goodies that was released today for the MK808B. This is suppose to fix the no signal to the TV, which I am suffering from.

On another topic I love this rom and can only run it when I use it in combination with a logitech revue and it works on all the tv sets that currently have, which are LG, Samsung, and Mitshubishi. What I mean is I connect the MK808B to the HDMI In on the revue and connect the HDMI out on the revue to the TV. Just need to know what magic the revue is doing to hdmi signal that is making it work. So I am hoping this new firmware fixes this problem so I can put the Logitech Revue back in the closet.

Can I ask you to please try this new ROM and see if it fixes your issues? Because if not, my ROM using this kernel will probably not either. So it would be good to know.

I have two MK808B and I have been able to install the Finless 1.5 firmware onto one of them.

The other one I have not had any luck. I have confirmed that it is not the clone as it has a 903 wifi chip in it.

When I push down on the reset button and then plug in the USB cable from the computer to the OTG port it always lights up the blue power light. I believe this means that the MK808B has started normally and not in the Flash mode.

I pulled the unit a part and tried to do a conductivity test on the reset switch. Not easy and not ideal when in circuit. The switch appears to be working.

Any suggestions?

Have you connected it to your TV through HDMI at the same time? It's normal that the blue led lights up, as it starts normally. On your TV you've to set USB function on and activate the PC Mode in settings (PC mode will disable after each reboot, so it has to be done while you're connected through OTG). After that your PC will find the stick.

Hmmm it should not do that. Since you have taken it a part then you know your pressing the button. Sometimes people think they are on the button inside but are not. But again since you have it a part I am sure you are pressing it.

So even though the button works it may not be actually doing it's job in the circuit.

One suggestion might be to use the NAND pin short method I show here:

Not possible.
Update from sdcard is just that.... An update.
1) It wont replace kernel (yet I am working on that later). So any ROM with a new kernel.img wont work.
2) It wont repartition NAND ever! Only a new parameter file and flash tool can repartition NAND. So if you start from stock ROM with only 512 megs of APP space, this can never be changed by update from sdcard. So if you want say 2gb APP space you cannot get that.
3) Major updates like from say ICS to JB or JB 4.1 to 4.1.1 cannot be done from SDcard because this does not erase /data. Thus files the kernel sets up in /data on first boot after a flash will still be there and may not be compatible with the new system. Thus you get instability and problems.

The sdcard update proceedure for Rockchip is very limited. It is intended to "patch" a current ROM not provide major updates. So even later if I can also replace the kernel with update.img from sdcard, it will still never be able to perform a major ROM update.

Hello Finless, can we expect a MK808B version of the 1.6 ROM? I have a MK808B with your 1.5 ROM and it works just great!! Thanks for that by the way. Nevertheless, without 1080 it just lacks something, you know? So, sorry for the pressure but, are you near the 1080 for the MK808B? Thanks man, and keep up the good work!!

Oh, I see. It's what 2dark4u is doing right? Well, I guess we can only wait By the way, I am very interested in this ROM cooking thing but I am more of a Windows guy so this linux things are a little confusing for me but it'll give it a try. One last thing, great videos jaja!

First, thanks a lot for your work. Your ROM 1.5 mk808b works very well, and yes we need someone who can compile a funtional 1080p kernel. I am trying to learn too, but so dificult to me So much time since i compiled my linux kernels

Bob, I am still having ROM issues. It was working again after the 4th flash, but I was in Titanium Backup and the screen went green and locked up. Three reboots later, it finally came back up, but no wifi again. Got any advice? I really want to get your rom working, but I am out of ideas.

All I can say is make sure you have a good power supply! Seems you have GPU or stability issues and power is a common reason for this. Also try a different HDMI cable. Mine would cause screen issues from time to time until I replaced it.
