how do i know which model i have

could someone please help, i have an MK8o8 but in the settings it does not give the model type as MK808 as i have seen in some screen shots posted, it just says full AOSP on N115, so does this mean its a clone and which one. Do i just have to try different rom's and see which one works. thanks for any help.

Open the device and post pictures of its inside. Then we can propably tell you which version you have.

No wi-fi connection in 2.1, so Flashed to 1.7 and all is well!

I'm writing just to thank you developers for all the work you've put into these roms! Thank you! I had flashed 2.1 and couldn't get a Wi-Fi connection, so was thankful to find that after flashing back to 1.7c, I can connect to the internet and use my new MK808. Bravo! -stu

I have flashed my MK808B with 1.7 ROM with lot of effort and it is working fine now. But the matter of repent is that I am not able to connect my 3G USB Internet Dongle since it is not showing under APN listing. Earlier I was able to use it for internet connection. If I try to add new APN against the option icon with some basic settings as per my USB 3G dongle, it does not get saved. I shall be grateful if you kindly advise for any othe settings to be done.

I had a working MK808b ( original rom) , which I was using to play XBMC.
Last night i updated it with Finless ROM 1.7C ( using Paper clip method) and everythign went smooth with no hiccups or error.

However now, I am no longer ab le to turn the Wifi on.

When I go to settings -> Wifi -> Switch Wifi On, it says "Turning Wifi On" for few seconds, and then goes back to off. Its not even searching for available wifi devices. I have tried several reboots, and erase NAND and reloading rom with no luck. I also tried Finless 2.1, with same result.


Any help?

i justy got the MK808 out of the closet to use @ my folks house.

now i have this White USB 2 Ethernet adapter with Asix chipset, now i did a clean install of this rom and inserted the 2dark4u kernel and it runs smooth

Wifi gives me 10 Mbit max, so i decided to use that white USB2ethernet adapter, it used to work with the MCS7830.ko file but now it doesnt allow me to insert.

i can enable the adapter, it gives an IP but transfer is slow 5Mbps, so i wanna install drivers and see if it runs @ 60 Mbit like it ran before.

i grabbed the mcs7830.ko file from several places for android 4.4.1 and even checked for kernel match 3.0.8+ and also from levvy's package but on every file i use i get the error :device or resource busy OR insmod exec format error

i copied the file to the modules folder and changed permissions like u see in alot of tutorials, strange thing is that the device used to work, how come its impossible to get it working on this rom ?

any way to get the module loaded ?

I have installed Finless 1.7 with 720p kernel on my original mk808b. Everything runs fine so long ... but the GoneMAD music player (trial version) keeps crashing as soon as I try to play a song. The author of GMMP means that it's a problem of finless rom (it's some kind of memory allocating error of a library, I don't really know) because he owns a mk808b himself and uses the stock rom with his GMM Player, running fine. Can anyone test this issue and tell me if GMMP crashes or runs on his stick?

BTW I have also installed the xposed framework with xprivacy module and avast and adaware from fdroid too. But I have nothing permitted for GMMP so I don't think it's a problem of one of that apps.

I am on this ROM from long.
I am just planning to attach separate speakers to this and lost in few questions,
1. Has any one tried 5.1 channel sound system connected to this? If yes, what is configuration, i.e. speakers, USB soundcard etc.
2. Is 5.1 channel sound output available? What is work around?

How to flash again?

Hello,

I flashed the 1.7C some months ago and was very happy with it.

Yesterday MX Player was updated and stopped working, there is a message to uninstall and reinstall it again. (I use MX player due to the very nice subtitles).
I tried to uninstall it to no avail (? !), so I decided to reflash the stick

Now I cannot do that, Win 7 finds it but the flash tool doesn't. Deleting the RockUSB device in device manager doesn't helps since as soon as I use the paper clip method Win finds it and all is the same again. Changing the USB port the MK808 is connected to didn´t solve also.

If you have mk808 or B variant the best combination, from my expirience, would be digitops release from november 2013 and 2dark4us 1.4 Ghz kernel.

I flashed all posible roms and kernels to my mk808 (nonB) and this is my favorite combination for my 720p TV.

You shoul have a reliable power suplay too - 2000 mA.

last night endlessy i had a stick in portrait mode, with android 4.4 : the tronsmart MK908II

But i looking for a Dual Core stick which i can use in portrait. Preferable with a custom rom from Bob.

Can somebody advise a stick to use in portrait full screen?

MK808 "all models" Finless 1.7 - Antutu Benchmark

I flashed this with the 1080 kernel and rom but didn't like the performance of it, so I tried with digitopmod roms and they were not as easy to flash and the performance didn't change much, so I tried this rom at the 720 level and wow it went fast, netflix had been fuzzy on other versions, but this was clear as could be. Used the No-frills CPU control and benchmarked and it was a crazy 12500. Can't find the screenshot button, but will add proof pic to my profile once I can shoot it.

Flashed my MK808 with the 720 kernel but wont pass loading "colorful" screen on boot.
Tried flashing it again, even tried loading the stock rom, same results wont pass custom loading or android screen.

Is there any work-around on this?
