I'm looking at getting the S812 2g version. Lollipop is not getting good comments on here for tv streaming which worry me. I'll be using the box for streaming primarily. Any guidance on if I should go ahead with lollipop? I'm tossing up between this and the U BOX i one (i828) TV Box Amlogic S802 Android 4.4.2

@Steve-o: This is a very old thread. I think that 106L1 is the latest version of Lollipop which runs on both the MXIII Plus and MXIII-G. If you prefer you can change to the 316k4 Kitkat firmware. The S812 offers many more features than the older S802 model, Gigabit LAN, 4K H.265 playback, Lollipop firmware, faster graphics etc. Just make sure that you purchase the MXIII-G from Gearbest or the MXIII Plus from Geekbuying as most of the machines that are being sold on Aliexpress/Amazon/**** are not genuine. It is probably worthwhile to choose the 2GB Ram option as this should improve gaming and Kodi performance etc. The number of different firmwares that are available for these two devices has made them very popular choices.

So my MXIII-G 2GB version arrived and I'm having problems with buffering with most Kodi 15.2 sources (Genesis, SALTS, 1Channel, etc) however I can play 1080p HD movies through Phoenix (gvideo) no problem, same with HD YouTube videos. I tested with the exact sources through Kodi 15.2 on my Linux machine and they work no prob.
If I go to system info for my MXIII-G it shows build 106L1, Lollipop 5.1.1.
Does the OpenELEC firmware solve issues like these? It's a pity because everything else on the box runs perfectly.
