wilro_6276 thanks as well. excuse my inexperience but i take it this is an upgrade file and i cant use it to fresh flash (toothpick) on a new box? should i grab kamiks file, toothpick than then upgrade this one? I notice Kamik has posted his back up on a different server ( http://xbmc.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=4587&page=190 ). kszaq has got the dual boot to work as well for his mk808b+ rom, would that be difficult to make work? again many thanks for the rom.

Yes, for toothpick install, you need to install Kamik's first & then upgrade to my build - I've just pulled in Kamik's git tree ( https://github.com/Kamik/OpenELEC.tv...elec-6.0-kamik ) so I can compare his build to mine (my build was hobbled together from kerber's S82 & M8SP builds + extracting core configurations from the original 4.4.2 android rommy next build will include a toothpick install version (hopefully!) - Actually, it looks like kamik is trying to get his M8S/MX3G stuff merged with kerber, so I'll rebase my own build based on that when/if it occurs.
One thing I should have noted is that my build is based on the 2Gig model of the MX3G - I haven't tested it on the 1Gig model (Kamik's build appears to be based on the 1Gig model, which worked fine on the 2Gig - not sure if the reverse is true, however
Yes, I really like what kszaq done with the dual boot (I did the dual boot thing with my MXQ-S85), however, reverted to using the stock install as openelec ran faster/smoother using the devices internal storage - I will have to take a look & see if it's compatible with the MX3G (It'll make it easier make test builds, at least
Ciao,
Rob.

Picked up one of these devices when they first came out, installed the openelec posted elsewhere in this thread (kerber based)
After a bit of poking around, I was able to build my own & fix a couple of issues I had with the original:
1. Fix poweroff (kszaq)
2. Make the power button shutdown instead of suspend (suspend resume usually required a "reboot" to get network back anyway
3. Rollback to Kodi 15.1 (kszaq)
This can be downloaded from my server here (copy to /storage/.update dir):
Anyone wanting to build their own version can grab my addon's for kerber's git tree here:
(This is my first custom build of openelec - Feel free to point out anything I stuffed up
"Toothpick" install version:
Note: I have only minimally tested this (latest kerber git), & I have NOT tested the "Toothpick" install version at all, but as it's based on kamak's original, I suspect it should be fine
(Oh, only tested on the 2Gig model
Enjoy!

Thank you for the new toothpick install version. Your efforts are highly appreciated! I noted you're testing on the MXIII-G 2Gig model. I think it's important to stay focused on one quality box.

This is my line of thought too, The take home for me is that I'm confident now that I can get a working openelec for any future amlogic based boxes I get- Might not be portable/usable for the slight variant's of the one I'm actually using, but it'll mostly work <g>. Kamik's implementation is more generic/flexible, & more in line with how the rest of Kerber's tree works - My 2 minor tweaks (power off & power off instead of suspend when power button pressed) appear to work fine when applied to Kamik's build, so I'll base my own builds on this going forward (This should also ensure that the 1G model works with my builds)
I think these boxes represent the best bang/buck at the moment, however, 2G model is overkill for a pure openelec environment, so I like the idea of ensuring my build stays compatible with the 1G model

Good to know - I had my doubt's about vp9 being usable on these boxes (Don't think the S812 has enough grunt to software decode vp9) - It'd be nice to have hardware decoding support for vp9 (The only boxes I've seen claiming to be able to handle it are the Octa-core cpu boxes, & they do this in software ;( - Looking forward to seeing an Octa-core/64bit amlogic chip (hopefully!) - The RK3368 is the only model I've seen to date, & it has a whole heap of different challenges wrt openelec

xangt VP9 is not supported in hardware by the s812. The S812 does have the more important H.265 hardware support.
