MXQ "All Black" S805 Versions / HD18q / and Clones Directory

Another S805 saga -
Went from soft-bricked, tried to get into recovery, tried different firmwares including OpenElec, and I now have a hard bricked (red light only)mxq-s805 version 3 With a 8189etv WiFi chip. It has the same remote keypad mapping layout as those from Droidbox but who really knows of it was one of theirs?

USB burning tool instantly shows "connection successful" (with or without pushing the reset button)but it won't let me set for "erase flash", or any of the options on the right. They are not highlighted and can't be ticked. Nor will it even begin to install an .img. I tried the pins 17 and 18 trick, but again, nothing.

I actually wonder if this might be a windows error? Windows 7, 64 bit, all updates. I've tried some 4 or 5 usb burning tools, but none let me do anything.

I'm giving this one last effort before tossing it in the trash. So, any ideas?

Hi all can someone please help me get a firmware image for usb burn tool for this box mxq KCA-008-1.2 i must have tried about 50 images I tried the one on here for MXq-008=1.2 the does error as well and all come up with romcode error and 1 image comes up with get key failed please can someone help doing me head in lol.

So got the firmware from the supplier for this board model now everytime I use Usb burning tool I get Get key error on 2 laptops and 1 desktop dont get it any help plesae thanks

Hope someone can help me with my android mxq box. These are the pics I have

The trouble I am having is first of all the time is never correct and the OTA update feature doesn't work. I have never updated the firmware but have reloaded the Addon's and apps I have. Also the buffering issue, it has got worse over the last couple of weeks.

Any one knows how to fix the wifi issue in some roms?
I flashed the cyx_mxq_8189etv... and i have 8188 chip, this rom works very well but wifi is not, is there a way to add the driver?

is there a bare bones android rom for black MXQ devices? Mine is S805Q_V2.0. I just need just one particular app to run with a reasonable amount of resources available for. and I would prefer a clean android ui. Wifi chipset is RLT8188ETV

Hi I'm new here!

My MXQ box is the following:

Version Marking on mainboard: S805-V1.0-SD0-20151223
Wifi Chip: RTL8189ETV P812731
Known Working UPDATE rom: None Found So Far

Known working Openelec version: LibreELEC http://kszaq.libreelec.tv/s805/7.0.3.3/ (Can only get it to run on SD Card as it won't flash in recovery)
Where puchased: Non-working Gift. Unknown original vendor


I was given this box which was already bricked upon receipt. I've managed to recover it via USB Burning tool which has recovered it to a working state using the Stock firmware above. However, the wifi is not working, so i'm assuming the firmware is for a different wifi chip. I'm also inclined to believe this is a clone, as the NAND chip is a SanDisk, rather than the skHynix that most people seem to have.

LibreELEC has solved the wifi issue as the firmware works out of the box from the SD Card with no issues detected so far, other than the wifi being a little patchy at times. I'd like to be able to run this from NAND. However, it won't update via android as it throws up a signature error once it gets into android recovery. The Stock recovery won't let me do anything with it for some strange reason. A custom recovery such as TWRP would be ideal, but I've yet to find a version that'll work for this box. I'd also like to find a working stock or custom ROM that will make the wifi work.

Any ideas anyone?

UPDATE: Having experimented a little, I now have LibreELEC working on NAND! I put the NAND update zip file on the SD card, along with a recovery.img that i took from another stock ROM zip (One which the recovery worked but bricked after the update). The resulting SD card was then run using the toothpick method. Scared me for a bit because only got the status bar while updating. It didn't say updating or anything, but it worked anyway so I'm happy! I'd still like to know where the Stock ROM is for this model but it can wait now!!!!!
