You don't need 1080p kernel, 720p is the optimal solution for android UI and the videos work in different way, like what is described by you with tablet. and with all android devices.
now I understand why many people ask the kernel 1080p !

The hdmi transmitter, in a normal device, output the video in the original resolution without scale, if the tv is capable of 1080p and all the edid informations work well, you see the video on your tv at 1080p
the device (your mini pc) with the edid informations of your tv, know all resolutions supported by your tv and output the video based on need.
kernel 720p and 1080p afftect only the android UI, android ui that work well at 720p for apps and games and that at 1080p slow down.
When i run the 1080p video on an 720p kernel using mxplayer and use 100% scaling option
Only part of the video shows up
When i run the same video on an 1080p kernel with the same 100% scaling option the whole
Video shows up filling the entire screen.
I repeated this test many times on various firmwares and the result was the same as above
So this proves that the tv sticks doesn't do auto resolution switching (i really wish that they do
But they don't)

scaling option are another chinese invention that ruine all. are about 6 months I'm writing these Chinese rom ruin everything. but I write without that nobody reads ?
ALL CHINESE ANDROID FIRMWARE IS NOT STANDARD ANDROID. how can I be able to make you understand this ?
when in doubt take a good device (like samsung, htc, sony etc.) and make comparisons
The rom from tablet rk3188 are not excellent but at least respect some android standards that the stock rom for hdmi sticks don't respect in any way.

Strauzo appears to have passed a huge milestone, and we all greatly thank him for his contribution.
But its very true, if someone hadn't shared the code with Strauzo, Strauzo wouldn't have developed a fix.
And if these devices are to benefit from a collective input, we all should continue to share our code and work together as a team...
As they say, there's no 'i' in team...
Thank you again Strauzo...

Please say yes , please say yes

the Kernel1080p and boot1080p from Finless
ROM -> Tronsmart MK908 Android 4.2.2 "Official" - Finless 1.5 ROM (245 megs)
with great success.
WIFI is very fast and everything I tested so far works really good.

Also it seems that GPL is being broken even if it is just hobby coding. When they (Rockchip) do answer Strauzo GPL doesn't have to be broken anymore. That would indeed be a good thing.
Its bad when it is hard to enforce GPL with a company with which we don't have any communication. It is also not good when a private person also refuses to share, especially when the communication is flowing freely and it is a deliberate act.
That said, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to find a solution. Even if it according to you isn't very good.
Signature? Signature!

Amen to that! Nobody would be where they are without a lot of teamwork. I do think it's very bad form to hold onto the fix so tightly, when releasing it to us could only help to make a better fix.... Very frustrating to continue to waste time trying to fix this alone, considering a "functional" fix has been found. If my work benefits you and you want to help out the cause, feel free to

Strauzo and FBob, great work. i will be sending a donation soon.
here are my tests and results on the CX-919:
#1 Finless 1.4 4.2.2: wifi worked great, everything was good, 1080p was playable but not watchable for me.
#2 Strauzo t428 nexus: video was a great improvement, nothing else worked but i wasn't expecting it to with the kernal and rom for the t428
#3 strauzo sdk2 alpha-2 kernal with finless 1.4 rom: videos were almost perfect still some minor playback issues, not sure if they were frame skipping or what but it was almost there.
#4 strauzo sdk2 alpha-2: seemingly perfect video playback. can't wait until this fix is worked into the rest of the 3188 kernals and roms. 1080p screen resolution and scaling worked for me.
My assumption is then if you're using the CX-919 you're best bet is to use the new strauzo alpha build 2? Have you noted any bugs with the CX-919 when using this build? Which version of XBMC are you using?
Thanks,
smithmal
ps - thanks for all your work strauzo

T428 Nexus SDK2 official v1
<DELETED>
Fix of upside down recent apps and screenshot
New Browser
New Settings
New rkvideoplayer
New Gallery
The rom is stable and mature to be an official rom. Very fast, stable, very good wifi and very good with xbmc
but mostly does not contain Chinese code within the Android source code

And I think the kernel fix just needs to be worked into the other kernels, correct me if I'm wrong but since they all have the same problem it'll probably be the same fix?
