It is in the ROM not the kernel but is a compiled LIB file. I have YET to figure out how to make that work when using a tablet ROM and trust me I have spent a bit of time on it.

when in doubt take a good device (like samsung,htc,sony etc.) and make comparisons

The rom from tablet rk3188 are not excellent but at least respect some android standards that the stock rom for hdmi sticks don't respect in any way.

I have a plethora of allwinner a10 sticks, and about 10 rk3066 sticks. All of them have chinese based firmware I imagine. They play video perfectly, netflix works like a pro, stability is fantastic. I understand that the code may be modified as compared to the google sources, but who´s to say that´s all bad? The screen scaling options have never had any bad side-effects for me, and currently there´s no way to guarantee that´s what is affecting the rk3188 sticks. I don´t believe the problem here is whether or not the rom is modified by someone in china or not. Plus I really do like that right-click being the back button. I don´t know if I could get used to doing it differently anymore.

I don´t understand what you mean by saying that chinese roms ruin everything. Without those roms these sticks wouldn´t even ship. You are holding too much of a grudge against rockchip and going on quite the crusade about them fixing the problem. I will say this: Rockchip makes the chip, not the android stick. Perhaps this problem could have something to do with the closed-source mali drivers? Or somebody´s bad implementation of the kernel source, building kernels for devices and editing original source files without having all the information necessary to properly do so? There are other potential causes for this problem is all I´m getting at.

Anyway good luck with your gripe to rockchip. You originally told us you´d release the fix to the public when you got the answer to one question. Well, you got that answer. Now you need something else. When will it end?

Nexus stable with the included kernel works great on my cx919. Its fast, video performance is good, Netflix and xbmc work. Its just that the picture is too big for my TV screen and gets cut off quite a bit along the edges. The setting on my TV to change the zoom etc seems to be disabled as well even though I can change the TV setting on other HDmi devices like my cable box. Any suggestions to make the picture fit better on screen?

Strauzo, As for firmware SDK2 Official v1 do whatever Play Market our device as defined I9300. Play Market after the update does not install Riptide HD, Real Racing 3, and other games. Market Helper does not work on this firmware.

But the android source code modified to do that is completly wrong.

The chinese code added, ruine the input managment system of android and you can have serious problems with external input devices like mouse, mouse+keyboard combo, gamepad, controllers

Infact the chinese code added, reinterprets events also of other devices by changing the normal operation compared to the standards imposed by google for external devices.

In essence, this change adds a feature, but it does not take into account the hundred other things that ruin.

You can have problems also in many games whit controller support. This bad change, it can also re-interpret the commands of your hardware controller.

If the Chinese want to disrupt the normal operation of Android, and you are happy with these changes, there are no problems. But at least rename this new operating system to "China OS" and not Android.

p.s.
Also the central button of DroidMote is affected by this bad changes to the Android source code.
I found this on my own without help from anyone, and that is why I do not want to help the Chinese with my work (or other developers that know very well this problem). Much work to solve the problems caused by them and that is not present in the original android.

A serious developer, when adding a feature, ensure first that this new feature does not ruin a hundred other things

When RockChip will start to produce standard android rom for android hdmi sticks, I'll be happy.

Many developers of applications for Android are not happy with the Chinese rom, because they are not compatible with the Google API, my voice is the voice of these developers.

but the solution is for all rk3188 devices. and it is very very simple.

The video problem is only a specific problem, the serious problems are others, not standard chinese rom in wich many apps from google paly are incompatible.

I want the Android hdmi sticks FREE from this crap.

1) remove the bad input managment system part or correct it.
2) remove rkremote from the source code of android (an uninstallable app can be good)
3) remove the bad hdmi settings from the source code that ruine many things
4) make standard systemui
5) correct ehomemediacenter that create many wifi problems and make crazy some routers.

in this way we can start talking.

if you read my post, you understand that all hdmi output should work in this way. also the rk3188 and rk3066 should work in this standard way. But don't forget we have chinese devices.

You don't need 1080p kernel, 720p is the optimal solution for android UI and the videos work in different way, like what is described by you with tablet. and with all android devices.

now I understand why many people ask the kernel 1080p !

Last night tested the Strauzo T428 Nexus 07.13.2013 rom with mx player and latest xbmc gotham monthly build with my LG Tv which states what input it's currently getting.

When watching a 1080p movie, with this 720p rom, the tv reports a 720p input, always. Image quality is very good, but don't have any evidence that I'm watching 1080p content.

I'm a software developer by profession. I've abandoned the idea of perfect solutions long ago. Building software is always a tradeoff between things like budget, time to market, etc. The truth is that not every developer is a high IQ genius and not every company has the money to hire such developers or are bound by time to market in order to keep up with competitors. So in the end software is bound to be flawed / full of compromises in some way or another.

The question is just: is it acceptable enough for me to do what I want to do. All of strauzo's work till now has been absolutely useless to me. The BT keyboard support is broken and, what's most important to me, webcam support doesn't work either. Both of these work on the latest Tronsmart stock firmware. The only advantage of strauzo's rom to me is smooth video, but that won't make up for loosing skype with webcam. Sure, it might be "free of Chinese software" but that doesn't buy me anything at all. Everybody has different requirements.

Technology like this ages very quickly. You can spend years to perfect all the software on it, but by the time you finish the hardware will be obsolete. So what's the use?

I thought the whole idea of a community like this is so people can join forces to more quickly come to an acceptable solution which makes the hardware usable for as many people as possible (smooth video, BT, webcam, etc), and to bring these solutions to as many devices/brands as possible. No one person can do this alone. Not sharing a solution (or workaround, whatever you want to call it) you've found makes having a community rather pointless.

Yes, I'm disappointed with rockchip. But most of all: I'm disappointed with the community.

I bought a RK3188 not because of rockchip but because it seemed to have the most active community. I guess I was wrong. Maybe I should just stick to running Linux on the RK3188, at least the folks like alok, galland, etc are willing to share and work together as a community.

It seem that those chinese company produce scrap and wait for community to make there product work. No investment in programming... wait this product is new and we have to work.... they only seat on their ass and wait that COMMUNITY solve problem. Maybe imagination need for programming is missing in chinese, maybe it is to much for them... since product went to store and now, they could have entirely rewrite the code, no they just do like geekbuying.... sending firmware with absolutly nothing change pretending to need tester... just to be pretending... that is chinese live pretend and make false statement!
