MO just a quick one. On this firmware, ie the one to allow bypassing of root. When i plug an external hard drive in, it's very buggy. If I select a video on my drive, it will go blue or black, then play. Once I exit that video, again it will turn blue screen and then exit.

          Hi

You can go to Settings - Display and turn off
          Adjust display frame-rate

It is used to play 24hz video smoother to not go out of sync by 1 second after 16 minutes and also to play 25/50hz video correctly
instead of at 60hz for smoother video playback.
But it will make the screen turn blue for a second each time a video is played to switch the frame-rate of the tv to match with the video.

Thanks Mo... Just back to my 1st question, but at times I also notice flickering. Is this also part of the display frame rate?

It only happens before video playback and when video playback ends and the screen turns black/blue?
That is auto frame-rate switching, at the end of the video it switches back to eg. 1080p@60hz, the default Android resolution.

If you just want a video to play instantly, you can disable it, but 24hz,25hz,30hz videos might then not play fully in sync with the audio.

Eg. on a RK3328 newer device, you must have auto frame-rate switching turned on in apps like Kodi to be able to play 3D or HDR video and also to play
4K videos otherwise 4K videos will play at 1080p resolution and be downscaled 4 times in quality.

Same on RK3288, 4K videos will play downscaled 4 times lower in quality at 1080p when using a 4K tv if auto frame-rate is not turned on, but playing 4K video on a 1080p tv
automatically plays at 1080p as it can't go any higher.

If there are also problems during video playback, you can send a link to a small sample video to test.
              Using 'Video', MXPlayer or Kodi?

The firmware still use tablet MM code from 1 1/2 years ago and is still full of bugs.
It should work a lot better when I'm able to make Nougat firmware instead in a few months.

Thanks for the explanation Mo, and for your hard work in maintaining this.

A quick question... Is it possible to use a Harmony 1100 remote with a HPH NT-V6? Just to use the volume, power on and off and scroll around the menus?

You can try to add this device to your remote.
There is also a Kodi keylayout file in the 1st post.
Not sure if the other changes are needed, if so I can try to add it later.

MO your V1.12 rom, is there a way to flash that without root? While the alternative Wassers rom is working for my streaming apps, it's just far too buggy at the moment.

The v1.12 ROM is rooted but can be unrooted/rooted again from Accessibility Options.
But even if unrooted, you will probably still have problems with some streaming apps that have Google Certified checks.
The MM Test firmware is Google Certified that's why a lot more streaming apps work.
Nougat is a lot more updated and will work better but is still a few weeks away.

Thanks Mo... Will have to decide if I continue with the buggy firmware and have some of my streaming apps not complain about root. Or just update to the V1. 12 and have a bit more stability

Someone else began working on it, porting the tablet Nougat to RK3288.
If they are finished then hopefully I can get it an improve it.
Then there is also Nougat for RK3229 already & some time after the Chinese New Year there will also be Oreo for RK3328, RK3399, RK3368.

                            Hi Mo123 ,

thanks for Info , 8 for our RK3368 Boxes would be great , hopefully RK tells this Time the truth .

                            greetings / gefattern
