fenoamby Use the TWRP method, it might look daunting to a new Android user but I can confirm the SDRobot's firmware works really nice. And you get a rooted box with ad-blocking enabled.

A quick recap of the steps: root the box, install rashr and recovery reboot, flash twrp in rashr, reboot to twrp and restore the image. All nicely described in the linked pdf.

I download MXQ_Pro_+_S905_A8_DDR2G_WIFI6330_VegaS95_Meta_p200 _2G-201604140414_IS.img
but TWRP don't see the file.
Is it this file i must restore with TWRP ?
I don't found the PDF.... :-(

Well Ours is S905 and I dont think it will work with S905X(BOTH DIFFERENT PROCESSORS), might brick the Box, but may b we can modify nougat rom from this box like tronsmart

Though I have H96 Plus 2/16 gig box which is same as MXQ ProPlus & I have been using MXQ Pro Plus Firmwares as the config is same right now onTronsmart since 6 months,
just upgraded to the new ROM based on Minix U1 FW13
Wifi----- works
TWRP----- Preinstalled
Root------ yes
Remote----working
Kodi------ works fine 17

well no bugs found yet

Have anyone succeed to install magisk or to pass safety net? Even with unrooted firmwares it is impossible.
The problem is probably with boot partition so i think only a real developer can help
