Can someone test if auto frame-rate switching and 1080i interlaced video can play on Dolamee D5 RK3229 firmware?

Auto frame-rate switching is not currently working, although the effects of it not working are much less pronounced than that seen on the latest AMlogic boxes.

1080i plays just fine from the examples that I have tested from here, although there is a video/audio sync issue when HDMI passthrough is selected, which isn't an issue with other file formats.

Do you have a D5 with the original firmware from August?

        No, a HPH-D8 RK3229
Apart from the frame-rate switching, video playback is great for the RK3229 chipset.
Auto frame-rate switching is not working in RKMC or RKVideoplayer(Stock player).
I just found it strange since other RK3229 firmwares I tried also doesn't have it working.
It is just H264 24hz videos that play a bit too fast but if you manually set Android resolution to 24hz they play fine.
So I was wondering if another box had it working.
It is strange since the RK3229 uses the same Lollipop base firmware as RK3288/RK3368 just with different drivers, kernel, resource images and on RK3288/RK3368 auto frame-rate switching is working fine.
Hopefully a driver fix will be made soon to add support for it.

Yes I too found it surprising that it wasn't a working feature with it being something that is already out there for Lollipop.

I'm sure that there will be an update soon as it should be easy to resolve and make the RK3229 pretty good.

Are you able to play 4K 8 bit HEVC files on the HPH in Kodi with the Rockchip codec enabled?

I was able to play them with the firmware that originally came with the box but since updating to a newer version they start to play and then drop out after a couple of seconds.

Several 4K sample videos I tried worked fine.
Is there a small 4K test video with a link you have problems with then I can test it?

              Thanks.

              Try this one.

              Right click to download.

On the original firmware it played all the way through but on the updated it drops out after about 2 seconds.

Just tried that video in Kodi on the HPH NT-D8 and it played very smooth until the end.
On my PC the video played slowly, probably not full hardware acceleration with the GPU.

It is a slow motion video, so that sounds good.

Any chance you could dump your firmware as I'd like to see how it will run on the D5?

When i bought my Dolamee D5 there was an OTA firmware update available and i installed it. November 11th again i received a notification that there was an OTA update available, but when i tried installing it i received the following error message:

Package expects build fingerprint of Android/D5/D5:5.1.1/LMY49F/melvin09071200:userdebug/test-keys or Android/D5/D5:5.1.1/LMY49F/melvin11111944:userdebug/test-keys; this device has Android/D5/D5:5.1.1/LMY49F/melvin08301402:userdebug/test-keys.
                    E:Error in @/cache/recovery/block.map
                    (Status 7)

I cannot find the firmware that i need to update to the newest version, can anyone help me out with a download link and a little information on how to update? Local update from zip preferred if possible.

                    Thanks in advance...

                    Note: My device says that i have build number D5-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY49F eng.melvin.20160907.114614 test-keys, and my build.prop also says ro.build.fingerprint=Android/D5/D5:5.1.1/LMY49F/melvin09071200:userdebug/test-keys. And the OTA update available is D5-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY49F eng.melvin.20161111.194128 test-keys

Yes i have read this entire thread.. The firmware from post 27 is probably the one i have on my box now. But there is another OTA update right now and i have an error when trying to install it. I really want to try this new update. I have already figured out how to flash the img, i just need the img of the newest firmware (see post 39) as OTA update gives me an error. Or another stock firmware which does not give me an error when i want to do the OTA update. Or can i bypass the error by simply flashing another recovery img? If so, i need that img then.

Thank you, yes the reason that i want to try the new update is because the firmware i have now has its issues lol. I cannot find any way to contact the manufacturer and even the feedback feature in the OTA update software gives me a network error. I wonder if anyone is getting the same error or if it's just me.

I'll fire up the stock firmware later and go through the OTA update procedure to see if it can be replicated.

I've seen something like this before on other devices and seem to remember that either a wipe of the cache/dalvik or a system reset was required.

bluesmanuk The R-Box(2GB/8GB) had that problem. You can look at the links below, but basically we speculated that removing the installed Kodi or other apps caused the OTA to fail. Reinstalling the Factory image and doing the OTAs until the latest version was running, solved the issue.

Some things to look at... here, here.
