bluesmanuk The R-Box(2GB/8GB) had that problem. You can look at the links below, but basically we speculated that removing the installed Kodi or other apps caused the OTA to fail. Reinstalling the Factory image and doing the OTAs until the latest version was running, solved the issue.

I've got 10 units on the way from GearBest China warehouse.
I will check firmware when they arrive, hopefully it is the original prior to regressions?
Should arrive the 15th
Will grab anything on first boot if anybody wants

RISCy Dude So what you're basically saying is that the build fingerprint changes by modifying files from the official rom? In that case i think even a system reset will not fix the issue because i added superuser to my system lol. I guess i will have to flash the firmware and try again. I will see if i can buy a male to male usb cable tomorrow and just try it. Thanks for clearing that up

Since the device already comes rooted out of the box it's easy to flash

Still not sure why it happened, but that was the easiest way to overcome the OTA issue on the R-Box(3229). I have not seen this behavior on other RK SoCs.

I have 1 more problem. i cannot get the usb drivers to work. since the drivers are for win7/8 i wiped my laptop and am running windows 8.1 now. when i enter bootloader on my device, windows recognizes the device, but i can't get the drivers to work.. I'm afraid i do not have the right drivers??

My 10 D5's arrived today(earlier than estimated)
All units have the 9/17 firmware
I Tried buying a male to male USB cable today only to learn that no stores around me Cary any of them lol

I went ahead and did the stock update to 11/11 firmware on 1 box so far. I'm not sure how to get the .zip update file for you, but it did download automatically and then prompt me to update shortly after connecting to the web.

I will nott mess with 9 of the devices until I test some things for my project on 1 of the D5's, prior to cloning everything

Let me know if there is something I can provide from a virgin device

drdeuce FT member clarkss12 had this issue on another 3229 box, that discussion starts here. BTW, are you using the 4.1.1 Driver Assistant to install the driver?



UknowEtheG The OTA app dumps the update.zip file to the root, if I remember correctly. If not, you can run a search for it. You can find it after downloading and before you run the update, after the update is run, the file will be gone, so it needs to be copied to some other location to preserve the file, prior to running it.

I'm looking for aa suggestion for an alternative to the stock Dolamee launcher...
I like the fact the stock has the "clean memory" widget, and gives you good basic system info as well as weather. But, the dead shortcuts once removal of the unwanted apps takes away from its "polished" appearance.

Right now, I'm about to just install nova and trim the unwanted apps

BTW, 11/11 firmware includes a new "setup wizard" at first boot.
And I noticed the weather on home launcher now shows both Fahrenheit and Celsius

That is excellent news for these guys Scooter. And me, I don't think it is good for me to use my memory all that much, doubtless, only so many cycles left.

I use tv launcher kinda simple and can make widgets ect. Icons uploaded by users so more that upload more choices for icons. Kinda atv feel with quick access to apks. Can customize it headers ect.
