Cannot flash firmware - black screen and blue light
Originally posted by morph1976 View PostGoldorak make sure your card is at least 4gb and it's a class 10 then try bennibanassi. I had the same issue as you with black screen. Try simply powering box off, putting so card in an then reboot without pressing reset
I have recovered in the past with the same sd card, its an 8GB and worked once, i will try with another one and try your hint. when rebooting without pressing reset button, do you have the nand scrub or the magic sd content on the sd card?
by the way i also tried the nand scrub already - press reset button for two minutes and release
leave to work for 20 mins and put back magic sd content and flash - still have a black screen
I have already shipped back a box with the supplier with same problem and they sent me this one, still same issue as before. i hope it is not a motherboard type issue and cannot check open it since they put a warranty sticker this time. I am out of hope with this one.
Let me know if anyone experience this in the past?

i'll buy the sd card off you if you can make it for me?

I just thought I would share my story.
My misfortune started why I updated my hd18t s2 box with a droidplayer firmware.
After the update it would not start, however I could get into a recovery mode from sd card without a problem. The updates did nothing, even the 1.1.5 matricom sd card trick.
I even tried the shorting of pins even though I didn't know which chip was the nand, and of course that did nothing for the box (it should have died).
So I thought there must be a better solution. After a little digging (in the endless wisdom of the forms on freaktab) I noticed the aml_autoscript can do a lot of cool stuff.
So this is what I did.
Installed uboot-tools to my fav linux distro.
Then created a text file (f.ex bootloader.txt) with this content:
Code:mmcinfo fatload mmc 0 82000000 u-boot.bin nand rom_protect off nand scrub nand rom_write 82000000 0 60000 nand rom_protect on
Code:mkimage -A arm -O linux -T script -C none -d bootloader.txt aml_autoscript
Then I copied bootloader.img from the newest update of my box from here http://pan.baidu.com/share/home?uk=2...ategory/type=0
renamed it u-boot.bin and copied to my sd card.
I then inserted the sd card to the eny hd18t s2 box and started it with the recovery pin pressed down. Waited a few minutes (screen still showed nothing).
Then I power off the box and removed the sd card.
I am pretty sure this is where the box gets ready to accept updates.
So I updated with the matricom 1.1.5 firmware and behold the box booted on its own.
Then I updated to the newest update for the box and now it's working as expected( power/standby/ everything).
I don't think it's the 1.1.5 that did the trick ... prolly it would have worked with the newest update for my box.
Cheers,
OB
i've tried this but man is it hard , it seems for someone techinically smart such as yourself.. if you can make the sd card for me , i'll buy it from you! name your price!

You are left with the shorting of pins tactic to see if that wakes the system up as i have the nand scrubber files only work less than 15% of the time with general systems with the black screen of death appearing.
You need to reference the pins either 5-6 or 7-8 which while the system powers on you short these pins to force the card reader to start loading firmware from scratch. I have to use this when the reset button stops working for some reason or some boxes which have lost their recovery
are you familiar with the pin shorting process??
hi . sorry for the late reply
no I am unfamiliar with the shorting process . is the a video for this anywhere?

Hi everyone,
ok because of a huge level of people located globally are contacting me in private and in varioius forums i have decided to put a team together of some guys that are super tech headed (like my self :-) to help people like you who are suffering from blue leds of death (bascially black screen with blue power light)
we are going to launch very soon but it will be based on the MX2 G18REF boxes (clones and original matricoms) plus the newer S802 model known as the M8 (also know as the G-BOX Q by matricom)
we will be offering these boxes for sale at very very cheap rates which will include the full works KODI installation, excellent full year remote support on each buyers box and repair work for as less as 10 euros per fix.
There seems to be a heavy amount of people who are owners of these boxes but people are more than welcome to send us any other model droid tv box for us to attempt fixing.
the site is already launched at
and will start building the forum database very soon.
i hope this will benefit you guys as i too was someone who passed very long and hard hours trying to get my own box working from a brick and it was a horrible experience.
so so far let me know what you think of this service and if you would be interested to join this specific group dedicated to our beloved tv boxes
thanks

im glad the new service sounds appealing to some of you,
we will work on the base of paypal (since ts the safest way to make online payments). Units sent in to us for repair will not be charged for the diagnosis. Our service will flow as follows,
1. android box successfully received by us (including user details and brief note describing problem)
2. immediate diagnostics tests and evaluation - upon completion the customer will get notification describing what needs to be done (example if its a straight forward repair or will need components etc)
3. customer is provided with a quotation to attempt the repair - again if the repair does not take effect there will be no charges to the customer (no fix no fee policy)
4. Repairs start at 10 euros (this is for just waking up the units from the death sleep). Installations for full on kodi installations with all the bells and whistles are also 10 euros.
5. Remote connections to fix broken installations of kodi again will be priced at 10 euros (clients will be allocated a time slot where one of our technicians will log in and begin the installation process)
6. charges upon sending items will depend on country of owner and return costs will be listed on our website very soon.
The info above is just a quick guide line of the service more info will be provided soon but if anyone wishes to send us their devices we are open for work, just request from us the post address and you can send us your items for us to take a look at free for you.
thanks again, im glad it will benefit many of you with problems and thanks already for the many of you who have sent me your boxes already and had them fixed.
oh not to mention i will be sure of uploading and sharing all the tools and firmware everyone will need to transform the boxes to the smart android system you all desire to have, flash any box to matricoms firmware, linux, openelec or the famous mbox firmware which in my eyes works flawlessly. Choice is yours but will be hosted to download from one place to save you the pain of locating these randomly across the netLast edited by kerikhaos; 09 February 2015, 18:19.
