Yes in the Video(yellow) socket and uses usb 3 port not the C connector (well here it did)...just to be different than the rest.

I actually forgot about this thread there is two duping H96 Max may make them one thread soon...

A few Benchmark tests, they are ok but could be better.

Most test I have run you get the feeling it wants to perform but it's held back.
Rom is not the best, CPU heat sink is poor and with lack of circulation all adds up to trouble in paradise.

I having not been able to get this unit into firmware re-flash mode ...

It would be great if You could make a youtube video showing people how to update the firmware release for this player ...

I had no problems with the R-tv r99 Box But I can NOT get this box (H96 MAX) into update mode ...

Any thoughts would be great

You said something about USB 3 Cable Show us what this cable looks like ? would be great too ...

Using Batch tool
Hold reset button, (tooth pick) confirm you hear the click if switch.
Plug in a USB A to A cable to Blue port of H96max
Detects.

What is the size of the heat sink? I want to buy a fan for it. Also what is that header next to power input?

Heat sink is about 50mm x 50mm, connector is for some LED control...

Between USB C and USB there is a spare location for another connector I see 3v and a ground, that could be utilised with a bit of soldering.

Heat sink is also pretty loose on CPU as well, improvement may also help

But would wait for better firmware at this stage as it's a mess at present.

Pass-through won't work since it runs beta firmware that was released over a year ago by Rockchip just with a 'new' date.
The pass-through problems was already fixed in Jan 2017 by Rockchip.
Rockchip also abandoned Marshmallow support a few months ago and now only support Nougat.
So you have to blame the manufacturer that don't release updates for their device and abandon their devices so quickly.
Most new RK3399's already run Nougat as well as RK3328 devices with none of these audio problems.

The Yellow AV Socket is NOT for AV it is a hole for the Reflash Button ...
